I visited one of the major providers websites. It allowed me to estimate my life expectancy and then told me that I needed to aim to ensure the funded lasted until then. But clearly almost half will live beyond that life expectancy, some considerably so.

But whats all this about Google, Amazon, and Starbuck though? Did they not declare their profit in Luxembourg or some other pretend country thus claiming their UK operations were not making profit? Surely that is the loophole?

My understanding is any company making profit pays tax on that profit

Now Starbucks HQ may invest £500m into the UK and set up a business that makes a £100m a year profit but tge UK business needs to pay the HQ back, with interest! Meaning although on the face of it it does make money in reality it isn't.

 

If you bring laws in that tax should be paid on any profit made before interest / loan repayments it won't be good for business one bit. If you try to single out only multinational businesses then for a similar mechanic then it's doubtful that we will get any much needed global multinational investment any time soon.
