In context, my son is at High School in Bolton and is the only Bolton fan in 32 kids! 2 lads in 90 in the whole year. We need to take urgent positive action.

I don't live in the area so don't know if they do this already, but can't be too difficult to get a player or two to drop into a local primary school and take a couple of PE lessons as a "special guest" one morning. Hand out a couple of shirts? So long as they aren't like Adam Johnson.

 

Primary school rather than secondary school - most club allegiances will be formed early.

Make it free to get in. Beer women have their busters out.

A lot of kids getting the habit now with the cheap season tickets, not sure what more the club can do.

 

As Wanderers we should be making life difficult for Bolton reds. I am not suggesting we swear and spit at them in the street but we should swear and spit at them in the street .

Getting promoted will help loads.

Have the family fun day before and after the home preseason game on a Saturday instead of the match on a Friday night.

We had better numbers than that when I was at primary school in the late 80's & early nineties! 

 

Thought we'd picked up more yoof in the twenty years since judging by what I see in the ground.

The club need to engage with young kids and I mean aged 10 at the oldest. Tours of the stadium, free tickets and your parent pays £5 for the first 5 matches they attend but they must be consecutive games. Reduce the price of stuff in the club shop and have more "pocket money" items for sale.

 

The club has a good community presence but needs to move this on to get the kids through the turnstile.

 

Empty seats don't bring in money.

Its 50 quid for an entire seasons worth of matches.  What do people want?

Said it before the travel is big thing for me,the bus service to the ground made a massive difference in the Radcliffe,little lever area with the younger fans,don't know if its the same for other areas

The problem may be that although its £50 for a kid for the season and want to go and watch the football thier parent may not want to go. This could be cost of ST, not interested in football, support another team or may be armchair supporter of a big club.

 

Would there be a way were kids could be dropped off at the ground, looked after all day and collected at 5:30 after crowds have gone. Some people may use it as a cheap child minding service but it would get youngsters into the club and ground. I await PG to come up with a similar plan in the next few weeks.

What were your suggestions?

Exactly, they want a discussion based on your letter. If you want to put other people's ideas forward then that's a whole different ball game.

 

People have posted literally thousands of ideas on here, they have chosen to ignore the vast majority. My only though is to not let this be forgotten.

Might be right with the class figures... maybe not so much with the year figures..

 

 

But in the last 4 years.. (13-17 teenage years).. we haven't had much to tempt people in.. doom and gloom..

Kids will always follow a successful team. We all know that fans come and go regardless of age.

 

If we want more kids to follow Bolton we must not only make it easier, but also more acceptable ( in kids eyes ) to do so.

How you do so apart from winning?!

Maybe more players going into primary schools? Promoting the club ( good luck with that )

That's a great idea.

the club day out packages seemed a good concept.

10-11 tour

11-1 training at Bolton Aena

1-2 club shop and lunch in study centre or hotel.

Then into the ground.

 

I don't know if they still do this but this package alone drew around 120 children per week from local, national and international clubs.

With so many huge clubs in close proximity we're going to struggle to attract kids without attracting their parents too. Kids want to fit in so will support the popular side without an outside influence.

Most of the lads at my school supported the filthy reds when I started, by the time I left most supported the Wanderers. I'm not sure if that's down to a few good seasons in Europe and the Prem. I'd like to think that they grew up and decided to support a team that they actually have an affiliation with.

Just to qualify, my son's class is all kids and the year I was referring to lads only, total year is close to 200 but not many girls following the Whites either. Will post some ideas on here and see what the fans think. Not only about kids but engaging minorities in the Bolton Community, more reflective of the diversity of the Town. Also, promoting in neighbouring Boroughs, Darwen, Little Hulton, Wigan, Chorley, Bury etc.

I remember getting a birthdays Bury one when they did a few sessions at my primary school. Much to my grandads disgust.

There was plenty of kids in Bolton tops and I was there 3 days I'd say more in BWFC tops than any other shirt on view.

I object to paying for a seat and ended up surrounded by kids in Munich tops who don't give a fuck about BWFC or the game happening in front of them.

Put them in the North stand upper you just never know they might just see the light.
