preferably with something to do close by and nice village boozers :-) 

Buxby Manor near Husthwaite. It's not for you if you're ballooning with the lads but it's a beautiful setting with a couple of pubs nearby if that's what you're after.

rudding holiday park looks nice

Langdale in the Lake District. Something to do is walking up big hills, 3 nearby pubs......but again, not really for a lads' ballooning trip.

Hawkshead.

We had a tourer on here for three years. There's a Brewery a pub selling real ale and a golf club. . A pub half mile down the Road again serve real ale and superb meals.

Just about a mile away are more pubs.

Langdale is my favorite but Hawkshead is great also. If you like fishing then Wyreside Lakes is only 45 mins away and is a good site with a pub too. None are for lads groups though.

Mates wife went with the kids yesterday. Phoned him in the pub mid afternoon, she had only forgotten the tent.

Green Dragon inn at Hardaw. Short walk to Hawes, and Campsite is at the back of a country pub, with Englands Largest unbroken water fall!
