I believe we played our first football league game

lost at home to Derby 6-3

the full fixtures were:

Stoke 0-2 West Bromwich Albion;
Preston North End 5-2 Burnley;
Bolton Wanderers 3-6 Derby County;
Everton 2-1 Accrington;
Aston Villa 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers.

And we scored the first goal apparently

Shit defending.

I hope we are emphasising our history and tradition in the attempts to sell the club. Your foreigner loves to buy a bit of that British history.

Anyone care to speculate who was top of the league table?

i'm sure they said west brom on the radio

Weren't we 3-0 up at half time, must have been a few stiff drinks passed round.

Goal average of infinity?

They also said it wasn't published

Philosophical question, like if a tree makes a sound if it falls in a forest when no one is there.

The scoring system (2 pts win, 1 pt draw) had not been agreed by the time the initial fixtures were played. Although that system was put forward there was strong opposition (led by WBA) that only wins should count in placings.

So that is why it wasn't published - because it didn't exist.

There were twelve teams in the league, what happened to Notts County and Blackburn was it live on Sky?

Finished 1-1, Heskey notched for Blackburn.

I certainly have the feeling we let. 3-goal lead slip.

And, no, I wasn't there. I was at work.

aye, super sunday

We were 3 up inside 15 minutes. Oh for a start like that on Saturday...without the defensive collapse bit.

What was the crowd?

Were they offering tickets at the same price to Derby fans?

Walking down the Wigan Road to see the Pike's Lane Aces.

If you don't know that you're not a real Bolton fan

aye, super sunday

Mobs from all over Bolton met, grand pops and greatgrandpops togged out in adidas kickyourfuckingheadsin met up early doors at the Ye Olde Duke and Duchess on Deane Road, mob handed and attacked the rival fans with scores of pewter tankards thrown at the opposition horse and cart.

All the local pits workers and cotton chaps bailed in after finishing their shift with scuffles breaking out until the early hours in the worlds first new town known as Farnworth and the outlying suburb of Newer Bury.

Chants of we " we only hate Newton Heath" rang out all over the borough until the pit workers returned for their morning shift,in their same clothes and with no kip.

Divorce rates in Bolton were rife a few months later.
