Needless to say, you had the last laugh.

  • If you don't like it, don't watch it and you aren't compelled to comment on it. Simple enough.   If it's so meaningless to you why waste typing energy?   I will watch much of it and wouldn't cross

Are NZ all that?

I think this may be a tournament too far for some of their big names.

Are NZ all that?

They have a soft group, but should then meet either Ireland or France in a QF.

Either they will be ready (in 4 weeks time) or not.

I thought egg chasers were supposed to be tough hard nuts?

They've all got fucking helmets and body armour on.

Cowards

Have you got sky sports 2 on and not itv?

Not sure what point L/H was making but I would say that anyone who plays rugby of either code or American football is not a coward.

Agreed but I'd like to see NFL players without all the body armour and see how tough they are then. I'm sure many are but I'd like to see.

A ruck or maul is toigh and grubby, a one on three hit from 50 stone of rock fucking hurts especially whem done 20 times a game...playing in a fucking big hardhat and crash pads doesn't really get on the same page.

I don't know, some of those hits in NFL are absolutely massive and at real speed. Granted, they do get about a 5 minute rest between plays though to get over it

I'll name names here. At the Bolton Braves, we had a running back from a Wigan RL background. Turned up for a trial and, like all these RL lads "I don't need any of that poncey protection lad - I'm a rugby league man". Chunky and solid bugger he was. Went on to bigger and better things with the Manchester Allstars and Spartans. Les Barton.

In his first ever scrimmage it took about 15 seconds until after the QB's third 'hut' that he staggered to the sideline, blood oozing from various places and said, with his eyes spinning, "Go on then, I will use those pads and helmet".

I have no doubt that, had no one had the pads and helmet, he would have caused a lot more damage than he received. If a bloke knows how to use that equipment to inflict maximum damage, I don't fucking care if it's Jonah Lomu saying 'keep your pads'. He's going down and he'll remember the pain if he's stupid enough to take on a bloke running full pelt at you and then launching himself like a missile without the bloke on the receiving end having any protection.

It may be the case that you have to play the game to completely comprehend.

I've said it before because the hits are so vicious they wear pads and helmet because they were pads and helmets the hits can be fiercer.

In rugby you don't often get 2 guys having run 20 odd yards in opposite directions hitting each other at full speed.

That said when the nfl players come over for the Wembley games they occasionally share training facilities with the saracens and are in awe at some of the hits they take.

I couldn't imagine a 25 stone lineman playing rugby.

But I doubt many rugby players could play left tackle.

I think you've nailed it in so far as diving head first into something with a crashhat on, is easier done wearing, well, a crashat; as is hitting a brick wall in a tank is easier than in a milk float.

There's a thousand big bonecrunching hits on YouTube from both codes of rugby. All without body armour.

Doing it in a 2 foot steel hat and robocob outfit doesn't really get me moist to be honest, as dramatic and theatrical as they are.

Same with Olympic boxing with head guards isn't as gruesome as a proper fight with split eyes and missing ears.

Amateur boxing is about avoiding being hit and landing scoring hits yourself rather that knocking the shit out of each other. More about the 'technical' aspect of the sport, as I understand it. Bit like fencing without sticks. To be fair to Frank and others you can tackle a mon without the ball in NFL I think, so they are probably likely to get twatted more often than the ball carrier in either code of rugby. I don't mind American Football as a spectacle as it goes, but why football folk from the North West of England choose to 'support' teams halfway across the world in a sport that means fuck all to most right minded folk when there is plenty of rugby of both codes not a million miles away from Bolton is a different question I guess, Bit like 'supporting' a team or driver in formula one, which truly is as exciting as watching turds float. But fair fucks, live and let live etc

It adds to the enjoyment of watching the games.

Pick a team and then root for results that benefit that side.

It's the same with any sport I guess.

Root? Can we not just support them?

You can't beat a good root (according to the locals down here)

Argentina have just kicked a drop goal to go 3-0 up after five minutes. That is everything you need to know about this dreadful sport.

Don't watch it then.

Can teams not just constantly go for drop goals? Would that be classed as the equivalent to long hoof ball in football

I will say that the New Zealand Namibia game last night bored the shit right out of my arse.

It finished 54-9.

Argentina were very good albeit against amateurs

A drop goal in a RU international is 10 times more exciting as a full one sided match involving Australia and England in RL.

For a sport you seem to detest so much, you don't half drone on about it. Why not just avoid watching it if it's that shit.

Come on England.

Come on England.

Indeed, hopefully it'll be a cracker. Hope we stuff the Welshists

The first "must see" of the tournament

Whoever loses has to beat the aussies
