How many members do they have

I do have concerns about the LoV types, but looking at some of the profiles of those putting themselves forward for election, the leadership is highly unlikely to be made up of those sorts following the elections.

Has anyone put themselves forward for election? I though we had a self-appointed Steering Group. Can you even put yourself forward for election?

From what I read they have extended the deadline to join and put yourself forward until Monday.

There is a steering group put in place by the original gang of three in there at the moment.

Now looking at the profiles of those on the steering group, Messrs  Hurst, Bower, Izza, Egan, Rigby and Dawson look credible to me. Dont know any of them myself mind.

If the likes of the names I mentioned get the gig running the show I'll tip up my tenner, if the web wizards get in by harnessing support on social media etc then I'll take a raincheck.

I know it seems a bit daft to deny myself a vote, but one vote aint going to make much difference.

About 2500 I think.

I'll not be voting for anyone who've got LOV links.

If you're suspicious about the motives of anybody with links to LOV - then join the ST and vote for somebody else.

If you don't vote - then you can't moan.

In case you missed it I've joined. ????

Really? I had no idea Mounts :-) So have I.

Although I desperately hope I'm wrong, it's not unrealistic to envisage a time in the not too distant future when the ST might be the best hope we've got. For that reason - for tenner and the chance to shape the direction it takes - I'm in.

Good man lets hope the ST isn't needed to save the club but even without that I hope it can help shape the future of the club in a positive way. Well worth a tenner and a little bit of my time.

I always think the same around elections...

My MP is Yasmin 'Open Practise for Our Secret Services' Quereshi.

:(

All those who've done their research on the runners and riders should join and vote, or the muppets and shitstirrers and 'told you so'ers' who can mobilise a vote will get in.

I know its only a tenner but I'd rather have an idea what type of organisation I'm dealing with before I tip up my cash.

If losing my right to vote is the price I pay then so be it.

The club is just as important to me as it is to others, but no one died for the right to vote in Supporters Trust elections.

The election is where the members DECIDE what type of organisation you'll be dealing with. Your tenner buys you the right to influence that (albeit in a small way). That's the way I view it anyway.

As far as I can tell, apart from having certain people being involved with its inception that certain people on WW's dislike, they've done very little to be angry or upset about so far - In fact I'm struggling to think of anything. On the contrary - they've been involved in a number of really positive things including the 'legends game' which has been met with almost universal acclaim amongst those that attended.

Till the time that they prove themselves hopeless, inept or incapable I'll happily contribute my 80p a month or whatever it works out as.

I abstain (regarding politics) because of the old 'dogshit or catshit?' adage, and the fact even if an alternative appealed, the likelihood of them defeating any pig, sorry, any other, in a Red Rosette is nil (in my ward)...

As for the ST, I was unaware they'd extended the deadline, I intend to join, do some research and vote according to that, if there's names up there I am aware of (negatively) then whoever is in opposition will get my vote...

I try to make my life policy proof as much as possible, so I'm apathetic with local and national politics, I want to have my say with anything to do with BWFC, but respect the rights of others to abstain (as they should my right to regarding politics).

Now, can somebody post a picture of a giraffe trying to bum a donkey?

(note 'trying to'...not actually doing it)

I posted a number of weeks back that I bumped into one of the LoV types before the match.

I asked him how progress was going on getting the stadium registered as an asset of community value - which I think is quite important.

His response was something along the lines of it was on hold until after the elections as the leadership was undecided.

Now, rightly or wrongly I interpreted that as 'We cant be arsed doing all that if we are not going to be in charge.' Which made me a bit sceptical about where the priorities lay, especially as they seemed to be moving pretty quickly when they thought there might have been a sniff of acquiring the club.

Now I agree with you, they have only done positive things on the face of it and I definitely support the ST concept.

Also the election results are much less predictable than local/general elections since the candidates wont be aligned to specific parties. My vote aint going to make much difference against some internet loudmouth with thousands of 'likes' or 'followers' or whatever. Unfortunately I see a situation where those that shout the loudest will get voted in.

If I deem a majority of the elected board to be credible I'll be in, if not I'm keeping my tenner.

Fair enough. I'd prefer to have the opportunity to influence the result though.

Chris Peacock doesn't see the merit of such a plan.

He told me so himself.

I'm no expert but at the launch meeting the Portsmouth guy said it was important to prevent a change of use planning application.

The land that the stadium is on is only worth something to asset strippers as retail/parking/housing surely.

What rationale did Chris Peacock give you for not seeing the merit of it?

Genuine question, I have no axe to grind against Peacock or his politics.

He just said it wasn't a priority and that he wasn't convinced of the need to do it at all.

He just said it wasn't a priority and that he wasn't convinced of the need to do it at all.

He didn't give any rationale then, so I'll reserve the right to believe the LoV chap's version.

Making life difficult for asset strippers should be a higher priority than the Trust buying the club in my opinion.

That's why I'm staying on the fence for now, seems they are up for the showy stuff but less interested dull matters.

FWIW supporters Trusts at Man U, Liverpool, Ipswich, Charlton and Birmingham City have registered their stadiums according to the Supporters Direct site.

Didn't the Pompey bloke say the trouble with Fratton Park wasn't a spiv acquiring it for development, it was a spiv acquired it and wanted the club to pay £Xm per season to lease it back. I'm not sure how a community asset order would prevent this?

Cant remember.

Don't think Fratton Park is next to a successful retail park right next to a motorway junction though.

Anyway we've gone off on a tangent here, the asset of community value point was me just giving an example of why I was a bit sceptical of the motives of the steering group.

I personally think the ST will evolve to be nothing but an irrelevance then disappear but I didn't think the SNP would wipe labour out in Scotland - not immediately relevant but I do think society generally feels more empowered to change things radically than it has for a few generations so who knows. I also am willing to accept I've no real say if I don't put up and vote that's fair enough

If I'd invested a few million nobody would be telling me how to spend it
