Eddie has had some abuse these past few weeks, a lot of it unwarranted by idiots.

  • So a bloke who gave us £150million is asking that his contribution be remembered by naming a room after him. Not a stand or the entire stadium. A room.   He's also asking that instead of getting his

So you're saying he's lying?

No I'm just suggesting it's somewhere in the middle as I previously stated

Doff my cap to ed, in writing off the debt : now the lock, stock and barrel, (stadium, hotel, training ground) what price do you think that will be ?

Oops had me pondering that statement 'control payments' not interest or wages but got to be part of the current operation ?

Incredible since he has only ever been worth 100m

I don't know how these 'he's worth' figures are calculated Tomski but I would be surprised if they took into account money owed as a long term loan from one of his companies to one of his others. Maybe if he hadn't have lent it to us and had just stuck it all in his bank instead his 'worth' on these lists would have moved up over £200m+.

The statement from Birch has confirmed the accounts, no matter how much he has taken out over the 10 years, he has put in £175m more than that.

Did you not read the statement? He's £170-odd million out of pocket.

The statement didn't come from a neutral observer, it came from someone being paid by Eddie Davies.

Don't think we will ever know Eddies nett spend.

Perhaps you're right bud and I know you are pretty clued up on the figures. There could be a whole multitude of ways he could of benefited, perhaps through tax etc. However I'll admit I'm not the person to be able to answer this.

Carry on getting yourself worked up about paper debt all you want

the fact is our facilities are in much better shape than they were when he came in. We've had one of the best periods in our history made on the back of over investment on players season after season and after all that the owner is only going to get back the value of the assets

We were always going to get relegated from the Prem at some point, we should have made a better fist of getting back up, it's not worked out for us like many others teams (a lot of which have a bigger fan base / revenue than we do)

Let's hope the next chapter goes as well as the last one

Bolton wanderers has always been a club that when the team is doing well the fans come out in big numbers, same has when the team is doing badly the fans disappear in equally large numbers. We never seem to have a steady support like derby forest and Norwich, but for anyone looking to buy a football club we have it all going for us, a superb stadium, training facilities, car parking, hotel, the list goes on. Someone with ambition will take this club back to the top mark my words! Thanks Eddie for all your efforts over the last few years you have brought some great times and thanks to you and your love of Bolton wanderers I'm sure you will sell to someone with the club at their heart hopefully with pots of money. We've reached rock bottom I'm convinced of that, we are soon to be on are way back!!! God bless you sir and get well soon Phil COYWM!!!!!

Isn't it a bit odd that the club website would ask Eddie's new financial advisor if Lennon will be sacked when the clubs sold?

Im sensing a bit of tension between Eddie and Mr Lennon

Great post

Good grief

Great post Darrener I should have said .

cheers pal, that birch statement tonight just made me feel positive for the first time in a long time. We are Bolton wanderers! Why wouldn't a rich billionaire want to buy us

Well said Darrener.

The sceptics and conspiracy theorists can do one.

Fact of the matter is we are currently no longer the press favourite prey for debt ridicule.

It was always said it was all owed to Eddie and he's proven that.

Other parties may be the Warburtons who helped recently.

Let Trevor find the best replacement owner. One who hopefully won't borrow large sums to buy us.

He's pumped 180 million into the club, and got 10 million back. That isn't "somewhere in the middle".

Never again should a bad word be said about Eddie Davies in terms of BWFC. We owe him 10 years of bragging rights and wonderful excursions.

I think he could of gained more back in other ways. Birchs statement doesn't give a full picture. It's not neccesairly 170m of money he has given the club?

For the record I haven't said anything bad about ED.

What other ways?

What other ways?

tax write offs etc. Not for a second suggesting any wrong doing but I'm not convinced the figures discussed are right either

What other ways?

Eddie also got profits from the few profitable transfer dealings, Anelka and Cahill to name 2.

i would just say thank you Eddie that was one hell of a journey as it looks like we're about to embark on a new one ........ Reading between the lines though I'd say it's not close pre Xmas might be ambitious. Eddie desperately wants to sell - will write off the vast fortune owed to him but still won't let it go to any fly by nights and some folk still don't think he has the people of Bolton and fans of its football club in mind tut bloody tut

tax write offs etc. Not for a second suggesting any wrong doing but I'm not convinced the figures discussed are right either

That is a bit of a contradiction, but the financial details are all publicly available if you want to back it up.

i don't think he got owt from cahill

not least cos we hardly made a profit

anelka was the player success fee

How can anyone resident in the Isle of Man benefit from tax write offs when it's a tax haven?
