Kevin's talking bollox - how do you measure a clubs soul? It just boils down to results we were mostly good when he was at the club and now we're shit - get a few wins and success and "soul" comes flooding back

Something in that.

Still a couple of players with character showing a bit of heart, that people can relate to, and better communications wouldn't go amiss.

If by 'soul' he means atmosphere, confidence, get up and go, he's right. But as said above a few good results, and a few players rolling their sleeves up and having a go and the crowds will flood trickle back.

I know it's early days and we haven't had a good game for ages, and nobody has touched hands on a deal yet, but I'm more confident than I've been for a bit.

No surprise that the BBC run a negative story about BWFC. The amount of shit talking articles they wrote about our debt. Barely mentioned it since the announcement it's being wiped.

They're all cunts

In other News ( The Bolton News) Lies is running a Colin Todd Story.

Here's an interesting bit I never knew   :glare:

Sixteen years ago former chairman Gordon Hargreaves was forced to issue a statement through the Bolton Evening News scotching rumours that the club was close to bankruptcy. But the sale of Danish star Per Frandsen proved the final straw for Todd, who walked out after a League Cup game against Gillingham – the club later admitting it could not match his ambitions.
It was at that time Eddie Davies first joined the board, followed quickly by Phil Gartside’s appointment as chairman and Sam Allardyce as manager.

Thowt Davies didn't come along until quite a bit later?

He joined the board in 1999. Didn't become majority shareholder till 2003.

Browny should have been manager after Sam, I know Casino does not agree with that, but without a doubt he was better choice than Lee.

Agreed. Thing is though PG had promised little Sam that should big Sam leave, then he would get a crack. It was an agreement that little Sam had requested upon his appointment.

Yeah, coz it couldn't afford the £5 billion pounds a year on his requested transfer and wages budget.

Would gone bump in 3 weeks if we'd let him carry on. IMO.

A lot of managers do well in a honeymoon period, no reason to suggest Brown would have been a good long term appointment. Maybe he would, but it's all guesswork. We had peaked when BSA had left and we needed to rebuild. Not sure Brown would have been any better than Sammy Lee.

Credit to Brown, he had a briefly successful stint at Hull, followed by either failure of average-ness elsewhere. I know you were desperate for him to get the job ahead of Lennon, but I've yet to see any reason why he should be getting a job in the Championship right now. Yesterday's man.

In my eyes Browny was big part of our success part of the team that turned the club round as a player and a big part of Allardyce era. I think it was a personal dislike of Brown by Gartside that stopped him getting the job, the subsequent choice of managers were a disaster for the club. Browny doing a great job at Southend and see no reason why he shouldn't have been given the Bolton job after Sam.

Gartside had already made it clear Brown wasn't going to get the job, piss poor from Gsrtside in my opinion.

Seems to be something between the two.

I know for a fact Brown was desperate for the job after DF left, but it was never going to happen.

Still PG stuck to his promise.

Wish some of my former employers had been so honourable
