green genie Posted February 26 Posted February 26 FT front page report that Iran is offering Trump access to investment in oil fields to back off his threats. Tens of thousands killed hoping for outside help with regime change the cost of the deal. Whadda guy. Quote

It’s always about money and self-gain. Trumps foreign policy. Whaddaguy indeed. At least history will condemn him. Quote

London Wanderer Posted February 26 Posted February 26 One hour 47 minutes of pure shite his speech was. The man’s been rinsed by fact checkers https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgmlzg0p8k2o “In my first ten months I ended eight wars” 😂 The most ridiculous speech in state of the union history. Anyone painting that speech as beautiful is off their fucking rocker Quote

You would hope that even the Republicans in the audience would know deep down that Trump was talking absolute nonsense. I’m surprised they were able to stand up and applaud given they have proven to be absolutely spineless. Quote

Bertie Posted February 27 Posted February 27 5 hours ago, royal white said: They stood when Bill said similar 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t think anyone in any country wants or supports illegal immigration. You don’t, I don’t. Standing or not standing to applaud Trump I think is “slightly” bigger picture. I don’t remember Clinton sanctioning a private army of thugs to go and drag men, women and children out of homes, workplaces or off the streets. To detain them in unknown locations. To deport without due legal process. To shoot them in cold blood. In a democracy you expect a president or prime minister to lead for all citizens regardless of who they vote for. Trump rules by division, lies and cruelty. You saw a divided congress. You saw Trump’s America. Quote
London Wanderer Posted February 27 Posted February 27 “STAND UP & CLAP OR YOU DON’T AGREE WITH WHAT I SAY” Utter childish nonsense The contrast between those two speeches is stark. Surely nobody is arguing that those who didn’t stand don’t agree. They’re just not pandering to his nonsense. If he genuinely cares about US citizens then he’d address gun laws & his out of control ICE agents. Quote

You’re probably best off having a little read, then you will realise pretty much all that happened under Clinton and Obama and Biden. Quote

As you often say to others, please send me the links to refresh my ailing cognitive function, where a federal paramilitary group under a previous president’s control was incentivised to round up migrants based on racial profiling in a way ICE have been doing (including the odd cold blooded murder). Btw. Why have you excluded Bush Snr and Bush Jnr? Decent presidents as well as the Dems you listed. As per so many exchanges on multiple topics on this site I don’t think you “get it” that it’s not a left vrs right issue. Edited February 27 by Bertie Quote

It’s probably not, just a couple of minutes reading can put a stop to those little mistakes. Bush Snr was before BC so I didnt feel the need to go that far back. Feel free to post about Bush Jnr it will probably be the same as the others. Oh and this topic is pretty much left v right. Edited February 27 by royal white Quote

My memory goes back to Carter, and of all the presidents since then (left or right) there’s just Trump who stands out with wrt the divisiveness, inhumanity and self-serving nature of his policies and character. Bizarre (imho) how some folks can’t see this. So, good on the Dems for not joining in the North Korean style applause the other night. Edited February 27 by Bertie Quote

I would have to disagree entirely, it is right from wrong. Clinton is a wrong un too, nowhere near the levels of Trump and he is infinitely more intelligent but a wrong un all the same. Quote

He is using his status and the political office of presidency to enrich and/or protect l himself, his family and his friends (some would also say foes) to a level beyond anything seen before. I would also say Dem Vs Rep isn't necessary left Vs right, there are variations even in their mad system just like our even more so mad one. Quote

Convention has been torn up by Trump so he gets it back at him? I haven't watched it to be honest as I thought you were talking about the wider picture. Quote
