I don’t think anyone in any country wants or supports illegal immigration. You don’t, I don’t.

Standing or not standing to applaud Trump I think is “slightly” bigger picture. I don’t remember Clinton sanctioning a private army of thugs to go and drag men, women and children out of homes, workplaces or off the streets. To detain them in unknown locations. To deport without due legal process. To shoot them in cold blood.

In a democracy you expect a president or prime minister to lead for all citizens regardless of who they vote for. Trump rules by division, lies and cruelty.  You saw a divided congress. You saw Trump’s America.

I wouldn’t expect you to remember something that happened 30 years ago in America. You’re probably best off having a little read, then you will realise pretty much all that happened under Clinton and Obama and Biden.

As you often say to others, please send me the links to refresh my ailing cognitive function, where a federal paramilitary group under a previous president’s control was incentivised to round up migrants based on racial profiling in a way ICE have been doing (including the odd cold blooded murder).

Btw. Why have you excluded Bush Snr and Bush Jnr? Decent presidents as well as the Dems you listed. As per so many exchanges on multiple topics on this site I don’t think you “get it” that it’s not a left vrs right issue.

Bush Snr was before BC so I didnt feel the need to go that far back. Feel free to post about Bush Jnr it will probably be the same as the others.

My memory goes back to Carter, and of all the presidents since then (left or right) there’s just Trump who stands out with wrt the divisiveness, inhumanity and self-serving nature of his policies and character. Bizarre (imho) how some folks can’t see this. So, good on the Dems for not joining in the North Korean style applause the other night.

I would have to disagree entirely, it is right from wrong.

Clinton is a wrong un too, nowhere near the levels of Trump and he is infinitely more intelligent but a wrong un all the same.

So why was it ok to stand and applaud when Bill said similar? Both governments want what’s best for the people of America. Surley thats what Americans want?

I would say because Trump has made it about Trump and not America. He is using his status and the political office of presidency to enrich and/or protect l himself, his family and his friends (some would also say foes) to a level beyond anything seen before.

I would also say Dem Vs Rep isn't necessary left Vs right, there are variations even in their mad system just like our even more so mad one.
