Found this on tinternet. Summarises (some of) the corrupt nonsense Trumpy has done to the US in just 12 months.

When Trump leaves office:

The Department of War will go back to being the Defense Department.

The Trump Kennedy Center will go back to being the Kennedy Center.

The Gulf of America will once again be the Gulf of Mexico.

The unfinished East Wing (it won't be finished by the end of Trump's term) will be rebuilt by the next president, and it will not be a ballroom.

Federal agencies packed with unqualified loyalists will fire those people and rehire the career experts Trump fired.

The Department of Justice will go back to enforcing the law instead of protecting the president.

Scientific agencies like NOAA, the EPA, and the CDC will go back to publishing research without political interference.

The U.S. will re-align with its allies and not with its enemies.

The presidential pardon power will stop being used as a rewards program for loyalists.

Inspectors General will go back to investigating corruption instead of getting fired for it.

The White House press room will go back to having briefings, with real journalists and not podcasters.

U.S. foreign policy will stop revolving around flattering dictators.

And the world will progress as though Donald Trump never existed.

So if Vance was to get in next time round, which at the moment he is the favourite to be, what makes you think he will change all those points?

Given the nature of political cycles, the assumption would be that Trump had been incredibly successful in making the GOP completely unelectable.

(Also the Dems will have a far better leader in place next time around, eg Talarico or Newsom).

I can’t answer yours I’m afraid. Vance (imho) is completely unelectable in his own right. Stained by Trump and only where his is today due to Peter Thiel and the billionaire elites, which the Dems will easily/rightly play on. No leadership skills. No charisma. No personality. No chance of being elected.

Indeed. Regardless of what people think of Trump, can't deny he has that

I still have some faith in the US electorate. If the Republicans were a UK party - this adminstration would have made them unelectable for the best part of a decade. But obviously things are different over there.

So what if it’s another republican?

Who? Ain’t going to happen pal.

Hypothetically ….. I think if it was a Republican then whilst they would no doubt claim an “America first agenda” they would have hold true to this and stop / not start any wars, plus normalise international relations with true allies again so it’s not “America alone”. Economically they would shove tariffs where the sun doesn’t shine and whilst still giving tax breaks to the rich (that’s what they do) they would at least have to give some crumbs to their redneck voters. Also no more egotistical vanity projects renaming institutions. Finally they would have to reverse all the Healthcare nonsense RFK has done.

Basically, to be electable and get votes from independents again they’d have to go back to more traditional policies

You’re talking about America here and Americans.

I think MAGA has splintered the Republican party too much right now. As ever, it's usually independents in 6-7 states that will determine the outcome, and they're really turned off right now.

Tbf he is favourite because he is vice president, the Democrats are favs to win next election.

The second point made me spit my Vimto out, much better summary of the American political system and all it nuances than you get on any major news channel.

That Taylor Greene woman was interviewed the other day saying how Trump by getting involved in Iran has destroyed MAGA. According to her he was elected because he was going to drain the swamp but not releasing Epstein files makes him look part of the establishment cover up , but more importantly no more endless wars in the Middle East.

Vance is known to be different to Trump in opinions

Surely as you want your Vice President to fully back you up you'd think he'd be saying stuff

But it seems to be Rubio

Because Vance is non-interventionalist

I think that’s one of the main qualifications you need now….world wide
