I wondered similar but it's a FIFA regulation and so covers any competition

The reasoning is to preotect sporting integrity, but there should really be an exemption for youngsters under a certain age making their way in the game imo

Yes, I'd agree with that about exemptions for youngsters.  Although I feel for a player of any age that gets frozen out at a club (change of manager etc) and half a season is wasted because of the 2 club rule.

And I'm all for protecting sporting integrity, so I've no idea why you can sell a player for 20mil today and loan him back for the rest of the season tomorrow, then spend the 20mil elsewhere!

Its a good point that, the rule about only playing for 2 clubs in one season.  Just wondering if the BSM cup counts in that?  If it does, its harsh.  Literally one appearance stunting a young player's options to progress his career.  Sounds like one of those pointless rules.  A player makes an appearance in early August for their club, goes on loan end August to get some experience, and for whatever reason it doesn't work out (like Beck and Shoretire last year).  He then can't play for anyone until the following July/August - for what reason?

Beck has apparently been ripping up trees for Dundee to such an extent that Liverpool have just recalled him with a few to covering for the first team (helped by injuries, of course)

I thought Beck was OK but think people were expecting a left sided version of Bradley, which he was not.

Ashworth's done no better to date.

Fair assessment. Couldn’t comment on Ashworth as I’ve not seen enough yet

Fair dos. I don’t remember that. As said I thought he was ok.

Yes I thought he looked OK for us, had a bit of pace and a good left foot.  Looked OK for Dundee on the few occasions I've seen him on TV, scored a couple and looks to have a positive/attacking attitude.

Looked weak bit like the current LWB

Between 4 recent LWBs - Williams, John, Beck, Ashworth - I'm not sure any of them could be called strong defensively or physically.  Iredale the only exception arguably, but the wing backs on right or left aren't signed to be strong or physical.

Ashworth has played 260 minutes all season.

Not sure how he can be judged either way.

Wouldn't disagree but equally Beck only played 190 minutes over 5 league games.

Anyway, Evatt obviously didn't see him breaking through and L.iverpool presumably wanted some guarantee over game time. He sent him back and signed Williams.

Wasn't commenting on Beck though.

Fwiw, I reckon he wasn't quite ready to be Evatt's 1st choice wing back and is still developing. How far he will go I've no idea.

All powder puff but will probably be enough in this league, I prefer iredale myself and he could probably adapt better in the championship
