It's a shit place to get to, a fucking terrible ground and the away section is prehistoric that makes Turf Moor and Goodison look like modern stadiums   That said I'm down in London a few times this

Thought our support was excellent last night. Not the result that we wanted, but we have bigger fish to fry on Saturday and I'm glad we didn't go to extra time and lose.

Hopefully the players can take some confidence out of that performance. I was surprised that Palace only had 6,000 fans there but people in glass houses and all that.

My only concern remains our finishing and that could kill us in the league of we're not careful. Now he's had a decent run of games starting to realise where Clough's career will be spent and it will be nowhere near the premier League.

Bit harsh I'd judge him when he's played centrally behind a target man and not out on the wing.

James Henrry more like Thierry Henry, so many wonder goals from Bolton this season. Shitty Palace had to rely on a star sub to beat us, 2 leagues apart, think we'll do well next year in Championship.

Said when ameobi went that Henry could have a big part to play, now he ain't no world beater but can see him doing a decent job for us

I think he will be a decent Championship player. If he sorts his Finishing out think he could be a Lower end Prem player.....maybe.

I'm not particularly convinced by Henry. Seems to lack conviction in what he's doing - neat & tidy but no real pace or trickery and not very direct. Think we will be too lightweight with him and Clough, another option needed if Ameobi isn't coming back.

Fair comment Mounts but I think PP believes he's not strong enough to play down the middle - not yet anyway.

PP has settled on this formation though. Clough is still leading scorer from a wide position.

I know he's missing a few but he's the only one who is there regularly to miss them.

He'd do better in a better team.

Just work on his left foot.

Just glanced the paper in the cafe.

They've included ratings for palace players but not ours.

I don't think Wheater mistimes his jump so much as the ball goes over him. And I don't think Thorpe 'completely backed out' but agree he should do better.

I'm looking at the full backs - Taylor has to do a lot more to stop the cross for the first, and Wilson's challenge for the second is poor.

I'm struggling to see where this 'Wheater is tired' shit is coming from, too.

me neither

think because he was injured a bit and he's been around ages, folk get mistaken for thinking he's 38

he's 29

he shouldn't be tired, well, no more/less than anyone else

if anything they should be fitter this season if PP has a renewed focus on this as has been suggested, and as indicated from the fact be rarely changes the starting XI

Read the other day that he'd changed his insoles and its made a big difference. Amazing.

Prem is just too big. Those in danger of reparation don't want to risk it.

Those at the top sometimes protect players for champs league.

Even Bournemouth, midtable changed a full team.

Big Mick's lot looked disinterested last night.

Shame.

re: those at the top, from the current top 6:

Chelsea

Liverpool

Spurs

Arsenal

City

Utd

since 1981, other than Pompey, Everton x 2, Coventry, Wimbledon and Wigan one of them wins it

that's 30 times out of 36 one of the current top 6 win it, and City have only won it once in that time, Spurs haven't since 91

the runners up are quite varied, but it's dominated by the same teams, so maybe that's why no one else bothers - they have the squads and quality to deal with it and they probably play more games than anyone else if you chuck in europe and the league cup

just shows Fat Sam is done with Bolton

knowing Bolton could have done with the ££££ from the city game

and they will get batterd by city anyway

Can't really begrudge Big Sam for not wanting to be the victim of a cup upset, in my opinion.

Are you in someway suggesting sam may have ordered his players to take it easy on us because he used to manage us?

Have you been drinking Turpentine again?

True. He didn't have to be a twat about the crowd size though.

Youri drank all the turps when he ran out of Brasso.

Spot on - apart from the goal I thought he was poor last night

Getting Ameobi back is the key to us going up I reckon.

With him-top two

Without him-third and a play off lottery.

Id quite like us to sign Amoebi but I think we'll only be play offs if he's the only major signing
A glaring disadvantage we have is that both Sheff Utd and Scunthorpe have a striker with 17 league goals and our most prolific striker is Madine on 5
The lack of goals won't only be Madine's fault, im sure the top 2 both have more creative midfields that provide more and better chances for their strikers.

The last time we were promoted from this league, in 2nd place on the final day, Rioch had the good sense and the financial backing to sign the excellent David Lee.I think we'd be needing someone similar to overcome one of the top 2

....If only Clough vela and Clayton had a decent target man to feed off :(
