Both their goals were very poor defending. Wheater mistimed his jump to let Benteke get the header in; watched the replay straight after the game and Thorpe completely backed out of a challenge on Benteke for the second

 

Could and should have equalised though and both Vela and Clough missed very good opportunities

I'm a bit concerned about Wheater showing signs of tiredness might be time rest him for a couple of games and give Osede a run out.

It's a funny one the FA cup, if you speak to fans of smaller clubs (like ours) they will tell you how they love the FA Cup, and it would be a dream to win the thing  -  in reality though, hardly anybody cares about the early rounds, it's now become a distraction (which can be a good thing) at best  -  the attendances up and down the country show that nobody really gives a fuck

 

I think it probably needs an overhaul, first thing being no replays. I don't know what else they can do to revive interest in the early rounds. 

So contrary to what fat Sam said our attendance was good. Just goes to show he doesn't know everything.

Prem is just too big. Those in danger of reparation don't want to risk it.

Those at the top sometimes protect players for champs league.

Even Bournemouth, midtable changed a full team.

 

Big Mick's lot looked disinterested last night.

Don't think an overhaul will do much good. The problem is there is too much money in the PL so those clubs give it scant regard but still expect people to pay £50 a game. Supporters are voting with their feet.

Slightly disappointing in the end, as I felt we were pretty comfortable after taking the lead. Fair enough they had a man like Benteke to bring on, but the goals didn't really come from anything and we were never under the cosh or even under any real pressure.

I don't think Wheater mistimes his jump so much as the ball goes over him. And I don't think Thorpe 'completely backed out' but agree he should do better.

 

I'm looking at the full backs - Taylor has to do a lot more to stop the cross for the first, and Wilson's challenge for the second is poor.

 

I'm struggling to see where this 'Wheater is tired' shit is coming from, too.
