Whites man Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 An absolute vintage season & will remember it for many years. Some numbers; 13 games. 1,800 miles travelled and almost as many pints sunk. 11 new grounds with only Bramhall Lane and Port Vale being repeat visits. 1 poster urinating in the street outside a mates house after I dropped that mate off. The most memorable game has to be Port Vale. In recent times we have had to watch enviously teams like Boro last year bring thousands and have that momentum to drive on to victory, well it was our time for once. Most surprising was Chesterfield, lovely market town with good boozers that our ex-pat Derbyshire resident found for us. And Bradford is the new Huddersfield, a few of us are heading over there this summer for a piss up with no football match to interrupt it. There were shit games but why dwell on them when you can remember the feeling when Wheater scored at Vale! Quote
famouswanderer Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Southend was my favourite. Absolute mental scenes when that winner went in. Closely followed by port vale. How far ago does wimbledon away seem?! Quote
Guest Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Bristol Rovers Fleetwood Port Vale Will live with me forever Quote
Zico Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Only did 4 Two new grounds with Rochdale and Scunthorpe, 2 repeats with sheff utd and port Vale Port Vale wins for obvious reasons, another being it was the only one we won Quote
Casino Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 15 for me but only 4 or 5 before Christmas Don't think I've missed a Saturday game since before Chesterfield The liver is thankful the seasons over Next big play out is late July for T20 Quote
Biggish Dave Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I did 15 plus the postponed Southend, had some great away days. Fleetwood and Sheffield Utd best booze ups but getting the first away win in the sunshine at Wimbledon was my favourite Quote
gonzo Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Port Vale is this generations Hull. Had everything. Bonkers celebrations, pitch invasions, aggro, match stoppages, CS gas, riot shields, you name it. That day will go down in bolton folk law. Fleetwood was fookin brilliant too. Seeing us fill half the ground was superb. Having 50 lads supping in my local felt surreal too. Couldn't get to half the games I wanted too. The ones I did were fookin top. Just hope the appetite for most carries on next season. Be nice to take a big following to wolves, Leeds etc Quote
radcliffe white Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 13 for me which is low Fleetwood turn around game Walsall and port vale was not rights day out to say least Bury was nice to shut them bitches up Southend was lads first away Quote
birch-chorley Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 A lowly 5 for me Mrs dropped a nipper bang in the middle of the best aways in February / March which didn't help Really looking forward to next season, it's a much better day out when we have some positive momentum Quote
darrener Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 We did 9,Walsall Rochdale Northampton Chesterfield Bradford Shrewsbury scunthorpe Oldham and Port Vale Port Vale was the best by a country mile Really enjoyed this season looking to do Sunderland Burton Norwich and Fulham if they don't go up. Quote
stevieb Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 9 for me. Driving to a few including that league cup game the 2nd game of the season. Seems so fucking far away. Personal fave was Fleetwood for turning the season. It would have been Port Vale but I was too pissed to remember half the day! What a season. Quote
tomski Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 15 here. I was supposed to be winding it down but I just can't stop. Lots of highs right from the start particularly Wimbledon and Bristol. Then as the season progressed Fleetwood has to be the game changer, some top followings late on and I'm just glad a big following got to see a win Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Low number for me too. Decided to prioritise keeping the season ticket and home game travel. Enjoyed Shrewsbury though Quote
Marc505 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I enjoy reading everyone else's numbers and experiences, must be a book in here for someone! Did 33 league, 2 cup, 1 pre season and 3 abroad non Bolton games. 16 of that were Wanderers away games. Hard to pinpoint a favourite... Wimbledon - Love London, baking hot day, mad little ground, away win. Chesterfield - Despite the result a great afternoon, Yorkshire towns are great for a piss up. MK - Absolutely god awful place never to return but the packed train carriages there and back were something else. Then that punishing for the wallet spell of Sheff Utd, Bradford and Fleetwood away in less than a month, culminating in an almighty piss up for Fleetwood, ace. Would have been Port Vale too but was a personal disaster for me. Quote
gonzo Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Would have been Port Vale too but was a personal disaster for me. You didn't look too happy being dragged in to the not-right situation afterwards mate Quote
Marc505 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 You didn't look too happy being dragged in to the not-right situation afterwards mate Haha i was still smarting from losing my phone pre match, only got in the ground just as Wheater scored! And still am smarting. The photos I took on my ancient replacement phone yesterday are absolutely bobbins Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 14 aways for me (21 home) New grounds were Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham, Chesterfield, Coventry, Sheff Utd, Gillingham, Oxford, Scunthorpe and Oldham (although I'd already done Coventry, Sheff Utd and Oldham watching rugby). Mad to think the first away game was an extra time defeat at Blackpool that features the likes of Amos, Alex Finney, Tom Walker, Woolery, Proctor and Chris Taylor who were all shipped out during the season while Davies wasn't seen for much longer afterwards. Gutted I missed Southend but after doing Fleetwood, Gillingham, Oxford and Shrewsbury during March I'd pretty much run out of cash and time off work. Chesterfield was a real bonus of a town for a day out though for me the winner on that front was Shrewsbury. As much as the Fleetwood game was the one that set the tide for the end of the season, being at Oxford to see us hit four for the third away game in a row was really when it home what we were capable of, especially Vela's goal late on. We'll have years and years to come of spunking £100+ on away games for fuck all return, but it's all worth it in the hope of ending up with a season like this. Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (Slightly) off-topic, but I found this interesting table. http://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-league-one-2016-2017/2/ It isn't comparing the number of away fans per game, but rather the total attendance when that club is the visiting team. Seems Bolton are a slightly bigger draw than Sheffield, which is as I expected all along. Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Could that difference be attributed to the fact that when we visit Blades there are 28k there but when they come to us it was 16k? Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Could that difference be attributed to the fact that when we visit Blades there are 28k there but when they come to us it was 16k? Oh it definitely could... I still won't let that stop the Sun reporting us as the highest away attendance in the league! Quote
RUREADY2ROLL Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Southend was my favourite. Absolute mental scenes when that winner went in. Closely followed by port vale. How far ago does wimbledon away seem?! Yep Southend for me followed by Vale then Fleetwood. Was in the home end at Wimbledon but the overall day was brilliant Went also to Charlton, Palace, Millwall, Gillingham, Oxford, Wallsall, Northampton, Oldham and Rochdale 13 aways 8 wins, 1 draw and only 4 defeats - what a season Plus I was there on yesterday; first home since Blackpool 2-2. Be more next season both home and away Quote

They blocked off too many seats and stewards wouldn't move the dividers so there wasn't enough seats to go round. Quote
