Crypto Currency

Anyone had a dabble?

I was told to get on bitcoin years ago but thought the lad who tipped me off was smoking crack. Turns out even a modest £1,000 investment then would have seen me become a multi millionaire now ffs

One lad I know has made about £700k on something called Ether from a few grand invested

Few of the lads are going balls deep into ripple bits as we speak

I'm weighing up a piece of the action

It looks like a volatile road but incredibly profitable if you land on the right peg

The UK interest payment on its debt was £9.1 billion last month and its rising. The sale of bitcoin wouldn’t even scratch the surface.

Quite honestly, anyone who thinks they’ll be able to weigh in now and make 3,000% profit deserve all they get.

It's so obviously just a big ponzi scheme. Yet still folk invest, thinking the big win is always just around the corner. Any day now...

Crypto is just a loads of teenagers in bedrooms making money out of desperate blokes wanting to make a quick profit.

I bought some Bitcoin once, sold it for roughly what I paid and that’s it for me. It’s all complete bollocks

Take it you've cashed in and are now a multi-millionaire?

I used to trust Miami.

Everyone said he wouldn’t let me down.

But let me tell you this - as soon as that Nigerian diamond mine is up and running, I’m going to buy myself a gold bidet and my own attendant to wash my tagnuts off

"Bitcoin has gone now" was a very bold statement 😁

Blimey, they must be even more silly than him

And this is were it gets hard, I know lads  that are now 1000s in profit, life changing money, do they cash out or carry on?

Cash out.

On a similar note when i worked at BT a lot of the older guys had lots of shares they had purchased through a discounted share scheme at around £1.30 a share that they could sell.

In 1999 the share price went silly and reached over £15 a share, some people sold at £5, some at £10 and a few at £15 but there were also the greedy ones who seeing the trajectory wanted to wait until it reached £20. It never did but they were convinced that it would bounce back after a small fall but it kept falling.

Again some sold as it was dropping and still made a profit but the really stubborn ones thought they knew best and kept them. They closed yesterday at £1.51.

This is the gamble...if the money is "life changing" for anybody, then they should probably cash in now. Whilst many coins appear to be in an upwards trajectory, we all know that has to change at some point. Bull runs don't last forever

All the advice I see and hear is to keep crypto to about 5 to 10 percent of your portfolio. All the rest in a global index or the S&P 500. So they should rebalance once a year.

Now sounds like a good time!

Not bad for a ponzi scheme 😁

If it's life changing cash out

Then start again with a small chunk of it

I wonder what "life changing" is, I guess for some it might only be £5K, for some £50K and others as much as £250K+

What ever it is, if you think you've reached that point, then it's probably a bit daft to not cash in

Cash some out. It'll rise again when Trump is officially int White house I'd imagine.

Doesn't it crash every year to some degree and everybody acts like the world is burning down?

Depends what life changing really means. You have not made a penny till you sell some. I had a discussion with my Pension Adviser about 7 years ago, basically looking back he was saying you will have £000s when you reach 100, if you started spending now money will run out in your 90s with nothing to leave kids. I started spending it 3 years later when I hit 55. Got mates now with over 2m in their pots, worrying about it. As nice as it is to know you have a big chunk to fall back on it is miles better to life a live and enjoy the money.

The other thing is tax ! It always fucking is ! But starting to manage your savings down to ensure you get maximum allowances each year makes a massive difference, hard to recover a 24% ( I think) tax hit. So if they have 10s of thousands profit taking some out each year makes I think, all my money is in my Pension so really basing my comments on discussions with richer friends 😂
