Disagree

Done my travelling and the geography and even the climate of the UK is head and shoulders above the rest.

Just don't like the class system and the politicians but we can change that eventually.

The Scottish Border is where i feel most at ease

So why are you still here? Genuine question?

I would love a career opportunity overseas. But the places I would go to actually live are limited. Will it happen I don’t know.

In terms of Holidays I’ve travelled a lot I would say and more than most. Would I live in most of the places I’ve visited? No due to a number of factors. One being my quality of life overall here is better than I would get there.

i would say 10% of places I’ve visited are better than the uk to live. If it was 75% I would’ve gone to one of them by now. But each to their own

81.25% of statistics are made up. Where have you been to that is better to live than the U.K. ? I’ve been to many and actually considered living in some (I may still do it)  but they have the same political problems that we do, some more so. Most people who move away , do it based on the weather. Not even Boris can be blamed for that. Some will.

Work, kids, elderly parents. The last one being a massive factor.

So you’ve only travelled to this 75% of places since your parents were elderly?

surely some of the factors in judging somewhere better than the uk would be job prospects and quality of life for your kids, no?

Combination of mine and the other halves parents being elderly at different times.

Her's were a lot older than mine.

Means that period has spanned about 20 years.

That’s fair enough. But my last two points? Surely they are important factors in deciding somewhere is better than the uk? No? And thus if they are better then they’re better for work and for your kids?

Where would have been your country of choice?

Yep. Totally

But that factor outweighs the others at the moment

Fair enough. It was just with you citing them As reasons why you hadn’t moved along with elderly parents that’s all 👍🏼

Take them with me? Fuck that

😂

Ah, I get you now.

Owd parents means we've got to exam times, and career wise at the top end salary wise.

One for retirement maybe

I’ve had the opportunity to move to multiple countries, less now since Brexit. It’s never been about politics though. I don’t know a country in the world that has a perfect political system. As I said earlier, people move for many reasons but not politics. Unless they are moving here.

The vast majority of visits abroad are for work or holiday.

Doesn't necessarily give a proper representation of the place as a whole. Loads of times we go away and think "wouldn't mind living round here". We'll that's generally bloody obvious when you think about it- you wouldn't go to a shit hole for a holiday. Plus you are relaxing etc and not necessarily looking to explore the whole area- just the interesting or attractive parts.

Like all developed countries, this place has its issues but most of them are "first world" ones and in the scheme of things, not that serious.

Australia

I know Bolty lives there but it's big enough to avoid him.😀

My Mum and Dad had the lease papers ready to sign for a bar in Tenerife but bottled it at the last minute when I was 13. I was enrolled in an English school there.

Fuckin bottle job cunts.

I like living here and in Bolton (I haven’t been to uni though haha) but I’d love to have a holiday home abroad which I am saving for. Like most things now you have to be one or the other. Why not like here and abroad?

I’ve decided it’s best to continue to reside in the UK we have a fair tax system and a very good NHS (despite what some folk think) good to go to other countries to make sure you can top up your vitamin D and change of scene, take Spain for instance you need a personal insurance for health service and the tax system is less beneficial. We have thousands of immigrants crossing safe European countries desperate to get into the UK and theres a reason that they want to reside in the UK. We’ve a lot to be thankful for but many folk just moan and groan all the time.

Spent 6 weeks there in Jan/Feb. Watched the news in the morning every day. Very pro Boris in my opinion. It was a surprise to me and could be a huge surprise to you. I was in NSW. Other areas may be different.

Maybe Bolty or others could give a more informed view.

Politics aside, it would be on most peoples wish list if they had the opportunity. If you get the chance, go for it.

I wouldn’t consider Australia, It’s to far from the UK and I would think I’d feel detached from family and friends.
