You’ll catch up one day… so will the EU.

Don't count on it mate. Before they can catch up, they will need to accept the result. Not happening any time soon.

The EU will continue to be a vindictive jilted lover until such time as they desperately need us to stand up to someone like Putin. Then we will be their greatest friends again.

😂 Superb

I hear Truss played a couple of blinders last night.

It's a pity Esco isn't around anymore to give his view on what she said about Sturgeon.

Levelling up by ignoring First Ministers of devolved nations. Superb 👏

Popular with the Tory members I'm sure but just more votes for the IndyRef movement. Comments to regret if a referendum is achieved through the courts.

Another politician trying to be a populist but just making a buffoon of themselves. She won't last long.

At least Rishi, whilst I disagree with his politics, has an edge of honesty & understands the importance of building trust with voters.

She said exactly what the Tory Membership wanted to hear, and looking at the Daily Mail today, it looks like they're pushing her, so that pretty much means she's a cert for the gig

Yep, but given she is likely to be PM of the UK it isn't a good look.

I see she has already u-turned on cutting the pay of public sector workers outside the SE/London.

Whilst I don't necessarily see making u-turns as a bad thing, she is going to be a liability as PM.

She’s a fucking idiot. He’s not much better.

This is only going one way… early election.

Modern Politics isn't about anything long term anymore, you really don't need to think anything out - you can just shove an idea out there, see what people think, and then row back on it immediately (and then, in a few days, deny that you ever said it in the first place)

You would think so, but I reckon both Sunak and Truss know they would lose a GE at the minute (or at best, have to go coalition with the Liberals again) - for that reason, I'd have thought they'll try and ride out the next couple of years and hope things improve.

If Labour got in now, it could be a nightmare, borrowing would go through the roof, the Unions would be going on strike.....at least those things won't happen with this Conservative Government, who have been in charge for 12 years 😉

her mate mogg was on LBC this morning - he wasnt suggesting cutting pay but was in favour of lower pay for new entrants in the regions

it was good for those areas apparently - y'know, putting less money in folks pockets

high skill/low wage economy

and cutting loads of jobs

it might be that the fat is there (12 years theyve been at it, remember) but it feels more like lets provoke industrial action

im all for moving stuff away from the south east

its criminal theres still so much based down there (i know some titbits have been chucked to the north)

its just the suggestion wages should be lower cos houses are cheaper - well maybe they wouldnt be if we werent so london centric

That area of dead industrial land on Fairfield Street by piccadilly was supposed to become the new northern base for the Civil Service moving loads of roles out of the higher costs of London.  But that never materialised like much of the Norther Powerhouse proposals.

Probably because no one wants to relocate up north.

I got it wrong, for the right reason 🙂

I think people would, but it's difficult to get people to move if their family etc are settled. Younger folk without as many commitments don't care so much.

It's not the North per say but no-one likes relocation, esp. If its a fair distance.

If it wasn't for the kids I'd move to manchester tomorrow, nothing keeping me here but them as I can work anywhere.

Its not me being a cnut about it and i know its not easy, but these are the big decisions that need to be made if the tories are serious about improving the notrh

Its a disgrace more hasnt been done already

Itll be hard for some in the short term, but the north has faced loads of challenges in my lifetime with old school industries decimated

It was right to shut some of them and its right to get some of the opportunities of the south east to be relocated

Ps labour have had their chances to do this too

Theyre not innocent

Ps truss is utter cack

I agree, but it's not an overnight fix. Plus things like transport, education etc need to be fixed alongside relocation. It's not an end unto itself.

The BBC did.

Did wonders for my house price.👍

...there's your issue, they're not serious about improving the North
