It didn't you're right, and we do seem to be clamping down more on the Chinese, which is a good thing. They're still, like the Russians, into everything though (and not in a good way)

Yep, and the Chinese are still fuming about it. MI6 had a man on the inside as did the US agencies that had overwhelming evidence that they would use their ever expanding footprint in telecoms to provide spying opportunities.
