That and the economic mismanagement of the Conservative party because of the division that is caused in the British political spectrum. You can't just disassociate the huge schism that Brexit has caused with the issues that the country is facing. Politics and economics don't work like that. Quote

Mainly for self inflicted economic harm with brexit, firstly with Cameron and his failure to take it seriously and then by putting the self interests of the ERG and Johnson before our country, totally shafting any workable agreement. However, leaving all that aside as we can bang each other across the head all day long with responses. The money spent in covid is frankly unfathomable. Unprecedented since WW2 and unlikely ever to happen again. The reason was to stop our massively biased service based economy from burning into dust so I get it. I really do. But the money spent should be accountable and every penny accounted for. Along with decisions made at a high level to move people at high risk during a pandemic and why those decisions were made. Not in Crawley Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Now we've got landlords making profit of houses the public paid for. Insanity. Quote

Either by abstaining or voting in favour of the report.   I would suggest that this was more to do with expressing disgust at the utter waste of time and money in grandstanding over what was effectively already a 'dead rubber'. The 'I was only fishing defence' would be pretty lame. Everyone else seems to have realised Boris is a Bumblecunt , but Bolty won't have it. Correct. I'll let you work out which part. Quote

Not in Crawley Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Just heard about this on the Rest is Politics podcast. What a fantastic idea, wish it'd been set up when I was at Uni -Â https://www.93percent.club/ Going to tell my kids about it certainly. Quote
Ani Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Big breath....but I do think the Govt is taking some unfair flak on the economy ! IMO Brexit is a factor, but we won't agree on that, we should be comparing to France and Germany as a major economy.  But for me it is now clear the furlough scheme was too generous - But not many were up in arms about it at the time. It was introduced quickly and the lack of control leading to fraud was not great. We all know someone who 'did alright' out of it.  Easy to Chuck bricks at them about the scheme in retrospect but at the time most people were full of praise.  Also the Ukraine situation has made things worse. The biggest issue with the Govt is their disunity and use of meaningless headline slogans rather than actions to sort shit out. Quote

The biggest issue with the Govt is their disunity and use of meaningless headline slogans rather than actions to sort shit out. All pretty fair. Rishi Sunak has picked up a massive bag of shit (that he is responsible for in a small way) that Darling Boris has left behind. Truss doesn't count because she didn't even unpack her pork meat into the Downing St fridge. Sunak is a breath of fresh air next to Darling Boris. Far from perfect and certain to lose the election, but at least he's dull, not mired in lies & controversy and seems to be trying his best to sort some of the shit out. In other times, he'd be worth consideration at the voting booth. Inflation cannot be sorted in a few days. Brexit has contributed to our ills, anyone who says it hasn't is just being a prick to defend their choice. But there are other factors and normally 5% interest rates would be a pain but not the end of the world. However, 13 years of continual fucking from the tories means this is kicking a man whilst he's down. The country is on its arse (it's why people get better jobs abroad). Rishi is a big improvement, but we've only upgraded from a bin liner to a cardboard box. Quote
