If Starmer promises all that in order to win votes, then doesn't even try to deliver any of it, he will be treated exactly the same as the current incumbent bullshitters.

Aye

The independent Institute for Fiscal Studies think tank said: "The next government is likely to face some of the most difficult economic and fiscal choices the UK has faced outside of pandemics, conflicts and financial crises."

Labour appear to be being quite realistic. Don’t think anyone is expecting miracles & they’re not promising it.

They don’t have to do much really.

Just avoid wasting millions on nonsense schemes like Rwanda.

Avoid being corrupt fckers.

Avoid backtracking on vital climate policies.

And they’d be instantly better. The list could go on & on I’m sure.

By normal people that is.

Not dyed in the wool tories who cannot see any wrong like some kind of weird cult.

Not part of the current centrist/mildly left shower currently running the country. Proper ones are with Reform or, if they aren't, hopefully will be soon.

Maybe we shouldn’t have flogged so many council houses eh?

Bingo!

This is the most right wing the tory party has been since it gained power.

Mildly left? Give over.

Aye, we could clear all the whiteys out to make space for the interlopers.

Flogging isn't bad if you replace them.

No doubt sir Kier will have them done in a jiffy, together with hundreds of thousands of new homes, new prisons, and all associated infrastructure.

Good luck to him.

Will you be back with your incessant diatribe if it's not done?

Surely that depends on if he promises them doesn't it?

Nope, still 40 to go, that's not a hospital

So you are saying Cameron's Govenment was more right wing than this one? Deluded.

I thought asylum seekers had 'no recourse to public funds' so can not apply for council housing , unless  they are on specific schemes for Ukraine and Afghanistan.

Costs a fortune putting them up in hotels but if you come from France on a boat not sure you can apply for  a council house. If you are French and coming from France on an EU settlement visa you can but think you have to be already living here to get one of them.

Once the application is processed and if accepted you can apply for housing... I think.

Which will include many 1000s who have come from France

Told you, they are itching for Labour to get into power so that the slightest thing they will pillar them for, forgetting they have been apologists for some of the most disasterous decisions made by a post-war British Government.

It also means they don't have to defend this shower anymore. The usuals on here are in for a bloody lovely 4 years if Labour get in.

See, this is what I don't get - under Corbyn I didn't vote Labour because I didn't agree with some of his/the party's positions nor did I feel he would be capable as a Prime Minister. Local elections aside where I did vote Labour (and WEP)

If the Labour Party behave has this government have done, there isn't a hope in hell I could or would defend the record. There is a certain band of people on both sides so blinded by tribalism that all common sense goes out of the window. On this site you see it with a few hardcore Tories, and their posts show it's not a great position to hold and diminishes any sort of critical or rational reasoning.

Aye shipping a load of foreigners off to an African backwater is proper centre left isn't it?!

Braverman and Patel, they aren't centre.

Neither was Boris. Not to mention Mr Capatalist Reece Mogg.

Rishi doesn't know whether is Arthur or Martha.

He’s not even British anymore. He’s no idea what’s going on over here.

There's way more to the right and left debate than the amount of foreign folk we let in

correct, but no way can the current lot be described as centrist, no way at all

It’s naive to assume immigration doesn’t impact housing. Don’t think Winny was doing that tbf.

It’s also naive to see it as having the biggest impact on housing demand & prices (not that you’re saying that either). It’s one of many factors impacting housing issues.

Read an interesting article the other day saying we’re projected to start hitting peak people in the next few decades. Granted it’s not relevant right now, but mad to think that falling birth rates mean we’ll be competing with other developed nations for immigrants. At least that’s what the projections said.
