It’s naive to assume immigration doesn’t impact housing. Don’t think Winny was doing that tbf.

It’s also naive to see it as having the biggest impact on housing demand & prices (not that you’re saying that either). It’s one of many factors impacting housing issues.

Read an interesting article the other day saying we’re projected to start hitting peak people in the next few decades. Granted it’s not relevant right now, but mad to think that falling birth rates mean we’ll be competing with other developed nations for immigrants. At least that’s what the projections said.

Yeah it's interesting that. Russia is going to have real problems with population - particularly if it loses the war in Ukraine. There's still a cyclical lull in birthrates because of the ludicrous number of men that died in WW2.

Germany, Poland, Italy, Greece and Romania are also struggling. China's population is decreasing for the first time in decades too.

I think the predictions are that 1 in 2 babies will be born in sub Saharan Africa by 2100. Add in a bit of climate change and you've got some mind bending changes on the horizon for world populations and human migration.

Aye, that's some prediction re sub Saharan Africa.

Things only look to be getting more unsetteld. We're wildly unprepared for climate change.

Don't follow the snowflake putting folk on ignore.

People saying the current crop of Conservatives are right wing or left wing are basically ignoring that they are no longer a functioning party. They are a group of factions under the Tory banner. Depends which group are currently shouting loudest. The irony is that more right are being swept into Reform and the more central do not have a home in the party. So by trying to appeal to everyone and anyone they are fucking off everyone

And people think Starmer is weak, his team have gutted the party first to make it electable.

Personally I'm sick of this country being under the influence of the Tory party battlegrounds and not actually doing the best for the country.

Weak politicians, weak party, foolish decisions. Again and again and again.

If people aren't angry, they should be.

I thought being British was standing up for values. The values that have been eroded over this last decade; community, acceptance, support, building a society of fair values for all where it doesn't matter which background you are from you will have the chance and opportunity to be the best you can be.

No, some prefer to sit on a wealth they didn't actually earn and chaise others.

I'm 46, I earn more than my father did as a headmaster in equivalent salaries as well, and I'm not retiring at 59 like he did.

Went out last night with an ex public schoolboy and a Met police officer, both of who on paper should be a free vote for the tories. They are very angry.

I am surprised there are not a lot more angry Tories, everyone running them seems only bothered about self interest and drop the party in the mess without care.

Or so thick you join a what's app group with folk from work and after being messed about by someone on a gay dating site you think it would be a good idea to pass everyone's details on?

High tax, big government, too many remoaners. Certainly not conservative. Way too far left for my liking (and many others it seems).

I sort of ignore him, but only in the way you ignore the pub arsehole.

I won’t change pubs but every now and again, I'll tell them what a fucking prick they are.
