Didn't pensioners in need end up with more money than before the winter fuel payments were withdrawn because of changes to the way other their other benefits are paid?

That was my understanding anyway.

Yes

Exactly, but then what would people get angry about?

Goes back to what I've just posted to good ole BB - the Labour Party have been awful at their messages since they've been in power, but actually pretty good on the boring job of being in government.

Once a hotel stops taking paying customers and becomes asylum accommodation it is no longer a hotel. It has no stars for it's amenities as they no longer exist.

Think of the Metropole in Blackpool, once a beautiful thriving hotel but alas fell into serious decline and was an absolute shit hole before it closed. Now housing hundreds of asylum seekers which isn't great but they aren't being housed in a 3 star hotel either.

An incredible attempt at avoiding conceding a point 😆

Bravo

Dare I say that it wouldn't have happened in Corbyn's Labour?

You can dare to do anything on here mate. We have people condoning assassinations, contradicting everything just for the sake of it, championing bloodthirsty murderers and attempting to soften the atrocities of Pakistani rape gangs.

Making a benign suggestion relating to an Islamic and Irish Republican supporting terrorist is a bit 'meh' by comparison.

We'll find out about 'understandings' at the next GE.

This will not be forgotten and the Labour Party know what a mega fuck up it was.

Piss poor politics. Still, she had a nice time on her expenses did she not?

Not at all, it is a former hotel. Doesn't matter one iota what star it was, it ceases to be a hotel once it starts housing asylum seekers. That is a simple fact.

Condoning assassinations eh?

Not something you’d ever do.

I suspect by the time of the next GE - their hard work will be paying off and voters will be starting to see noticeable improvements.

Barring any massive curve balls from DT or some black swan event.

I don't really care about Rachel Reeve's expenses for the same reasons I didn't really care about Boris Johnson's garden parties.

Good old Guardian 😉

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/apr/22/shared-rooms-rancid-food-no-clothes-new-report-lays-bare-shocking-conditions-of-those-seeking-refuge-in-uk

seems a fairly honest report though.

It’s a broken system & a massive waste of money using hotels. But it’s nothing like a hotel that any of us are used to, & it’s bonkers to suggest it is.

Let them work, pay rent & pay tax whilst the case is being decided.

I know, definitely what we are not used to.

who to believe eh.

The study from the guardian is based on interviews & visits to be fair.

I’d imagine we’re both right, as experiences will differ across the country. As any struggling hotel can cash in on taxpayers money & open them up for asylum seekers.

It’s definitely not like any hotel experience we’re used to is it though?

What a ridiculous system & waste of money.

‘The outrage was generated after activists posted a video of themselves marching in to the grounds of the popular wedding and event venue, and confronting security guards who were desperately trying to keep them away.”

What a bunch of morons

That Lord Hermer is a bit of a character. An arrogant, progressive fool according to another Labour peer.
He’s been given a vote of confidence though so that should be ok.

Everyone is entitled to representation, but it isn't a good look.

9-11 will be forever etched in the minds of those who witnessed it, and a terrorist's lawyer won't be getting many brownie points.

9/11.... The only time Article 5 of the NATO treaty has ever been invoked. But now Trump wants to scrap it altogether, because it's Europe under threat rather than them. Nothing like standing by your mates, eh?

Agree. Astonished.

Next step is to see if these are just not more mealy mouth words from the man.

They won't go down at all well with the odious left wing of his party.

Prompted by the latest opinion polls according to the Times. Presumably, the 76% who say they would not vote for Labour if an election was held now.
As you say, hopefully not just false promises again.

Good.

"Working people" though- so many politicians continually using that term as if non-working folk have different views or somehow don't count.

Worse still when they have different and/or perverse definitions.

Anyway, at least he's now saying the right things.

A start.

Never!

Human weather vane swinging in the breeze of opinion again.

As above though, it's a positive start.
