Tbf your pension is probably heavily invested in US rather than UK mine is 40% US and 4% UK

Mine is fairly similar, heavily weighted to US and Asia Pac, next to fuck all in UK

Jesus Christ.

What a sad statement, inaccurate in all sorts of ways.

Haters got to hate I suppose, just blinds to reality.

How many pensioners have frozen to death this winter?

As it’s such a high number, just let us know to the nearest thousand.

cheers

In 2023 it was approx 45 a day so I’d expect a few more for this winters figure.

One of my pensions and a couple of ISAs, invested in the same place, as advised by my IFA are showing excellent growth currently

All only state 10% invested in North America. Rest is spread over different markets but include “International” and “Global”. Would international and Global include North America?

Brag on cocker

I actually feel guilty that I can actually get by quite well now I am clocking on 70

Some folk have trusted the state to provide security in old age and they are being let down.

What I hate to admit is some mornings I really do feel tired and the winter cold bites more than it used to... but I keep sticking it up everybody and that keeps me going 😉

I am privileged in that I can still enjoy turning the heating on and opening a bottle or two when I feel the need.

Wish it was bragging mate. As I hurtle towards retirement I’ve suddenly (and too late) realised that I need to understand how and why pensions perform. 40 years ago when I got my first job my Dad sat me down and told me to always invest in either a workplace or private pension and sacrifice some boozing, shagging and anything else enjoyable to be better off than he was at the age that I’m at now. Best advice he ever gave me other than to fuck off supporting any other club than the town that you’re born in

The very system that they pay into has become successful at keeping them alive.

Becoming unsustainable unless more is paid in.

Stopping spending on areas like immigration, and all its associated needs would help a bit, but there is no getting away from the fact that social care, medical care and simply living longer on a state pension puts increased demands upon the public coffers.

And the cause was freezing to death because they couldn’t put the heating on?

Strange that all the stories are how bad the economy is but the FTSE is at all time high and up 16% in last 12 months. Over 8% in last 3 months.

Some people are quietly getting very rich at the moment.

So, since around the 4th November then? Quelle surprise :rolleyes2:

Can't move for pensioners who have frozen to death round my way!

No need for exaggeration or sarcasm. It was yet another example of your chardonnay socialist party's hypocrisy.

Mind you, they did only mention 'working people' (shafted too) so technically did not break any election promises in enforcing experiments in cryogenics on to Ernie and Elsie.

The cabal is happy for indigenous pensioners to freeze to death whilst their beloved 'persecution escaping' economic migrants live it up - three, four and five star style.

The Dow Jones is up 2% over the same period.

I was not trying to give any political slant to it , just strange that we are all struggling together apparently but if (like me) your finances are more affected by the markets it ain’t all doom and gloom.
