Well New Labour certainly continued some of her privatisation ideas.

What a legacy she left us with 🙄

I recall her sayong New Labour were doing things she wouldn't dare propose when in office!

Don't forget she always vigorously supprted a single market free trade European Economic Community but did oppose super-state federalism and monetary union.

Not sure how her support for European free trade sits with Reform, they appear to support her views on maintaining national sovereignty only.

No way! Migration has exponentially increased since 1066 when the global population was 400 million, compared to nowadays when the global population is 8 billion!? How has that happened?! It just doesn't make any sense!!

So its the Normans fault?

Migration is fine so long as you shoot any objectors, build a church, open a cricket club, make a trifle, lay out a Union Jack towel and give the locals a cheap suit and some roller skates so they can bring you your afternoon brandy a bit quicker.

Well privatising water was the most stupid of her decisions. Zero competition in the market, utter lunacy.

Also, the government should have maintained a large stake in all the companies formed post sell off.

If the numbers he’s throwing about here are correct then no wonder the country is in the state it’s in,

It’s the same all over the world though. High income countries attract migration. Not really a surprise.  It’s not just us

Anyroad, net migration has come down massively under Labour.

Was 800k in 2022/23!

And we should have done what Norway did with North Sea oil. We totally fucked that up.

All well And good when you have the infrastructure to cope with it.

Fair point

Although, as a few posts in this thread have pointed out, maybe we shouldn’t have flogged all the infrastructure

Base rules of immigration that I subscribe to:

1. A society accept immigrants

2. In return the immigrant agrees to live according to core values of that society even if it means abandoning certain traditional customs of their own

3. If the immigrant assimilates to a sufficient degree then they can become full members of that society

In addition, if a society cherishes liberal values, they have a right to limit immigrants from countries with intolerant and anti-liberal views

The debate is all about how deeply must the immigrant absorb the new values and how long should this process take before they become full members

Point 2

When have British immigrants ever done that?

Which is probably why some locals in some countries don’t like them. It’s not exclusive to Brits not being happy with the amount of migrants

They sell paella in Benidorm.

Think it's once a month on "Spanish Night" and they have a bloke running around pretending he's Manuel from Fawlty Towers.

Then it's back to the Orange marches, Madri lager and union jacks.

There's a reason why Wetherspoons have branched out into Spain

Imagine that with Pakistani flags going down Bradshawgate.

Be reet.

Benidorm exists as a sacrificial lamb so the rest of the Spanish don't have put up with Brits. The same as Mallorca with Germans.
