So fuck off No election for me But we got a Labour MP at the last election replacing a Tory He's very good, goes out supporting local businesses, genuinely supports the local footy team All the stuff you want a local MP to do On the local Facebook group the staunch Tories just chuck abuse at him. He says come along to a surgery and we can discuss it But they never do I don't think on my lifetime a Labour or Tory govt has made a difference to my life So I'll just vote local Quote

Quite the contrary young man. Highly developed along with a keen sense of schadenfreude which will be further honed as the results come out on the drip feed. No it won't. Starmer won't be gone for another week or two so you are correct. Quote

I think it is you getting into a frenzy mate. This one will be about bringing down Starmer and getting an even bigger plantpot in charge. You are getting way too far ahead of yourself. Quote

gonzo Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Well on a national scale I don't actually think Labour could do much than they're doing with utter shit show they've been left behind. Reform couldn't run the country. There's no fucker else to vote for. Locally folk make protest votes but where I live will be Tory till the earth implodes. They've allowed houses near me to be built on flood plains and caused major issues. So they can fuck off. I wouldn't trust Reform to run my local council so it leaves Labour or Lib Dems. So it'd be one of those two depending on policy. Quote
Lt. Aldo Raine Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Reform gains but no party majority in Bolton Quote
Roger_Dubuis Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Reform win 24 0f 25 seats in Wigan and 18 of 19 seats in Tameside They don't like the new immigrants in Wigan and Angela Rayner in Tameside Quote

Spider Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Bolty seems to be very worked up about these local elections doesn’t he? Weird that, because in the past he’s always said they’re meaningless, and Bolty isn’t the type of man who changes his mind on anything is he? That would be weak. Weak. Quote
Sweep Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) In all seriousness, it does show the current direction of travel, generally, people don't give a fuck about local government elections. In fact, I wouldn't normally know if my local council was Tory, Labour or LibDem, I have no interest (and neither, generally, do other members of the public on a day to day basis) - you watch now though, all these Reform councils will be massively under the spotlight. They've done well, and it now depends on if they've peaked too soon. Do a good job running the councils, and they'll piss the next GE. Edited 46 minutes ago by Sweep Quote

They’ll piss the next GE anyway because they’re just better at social media than all the others. Thats the battleground now, and they boss it. Itll be fun watching them squirm in the spotlight of criticism though once the dog shit bins are overflowing. Most of them probably haven’t realised there’ll be actual dull, dreary, boring work to do that they’ll be accountable for. Looking forward to it. ☺️ Quote
