January 3, 20197 yr Been 5-6 times Think I’ve seen us win once at Bristol think gunlagson scored. Unless memory playing tricks and it was draw. First trip was cup match late 70s first game was postponed and game was midweek, for some reason we were in mixed terrace and it was bit Lairy, LA white for those who know him regaled in his BWFC shirt and blowing his horn held the fort and looked after us babies. Tricky tommy Richie tore us a new arse that night, TBF they were a very decent team. Edited January 3, 20197 yr by Mounts Kipper

January 3, 20197 yr 8 hours ago, Mounts Kipper said: I remember going to Bristol city at the peak of our shitness must of been mid 80s the supporters club took 1 coach didn’t fancy that so heard a transit van was going from moor lane, rocked up on my own about 8 am and the van was there, the hard core crew of the likes of Joe C, Shaun G, Neb, a right motley crew, idvof been youngest there about 19-20 years old and didn’t really know the other lads that well, most were pissed up from the night before, 16 in the back rammed in and half way there it kicked off in the van, anyhow driver pulled up and it all got sorted, it was decided that we were going to try take the Bristol end all 16 of us, despite being wet behind the ears I thought fuck that, so gave it a swerve and waited on the Bolton end for the attempt, sure enough 10 minutes before kick off a commotion ensued on the away end, didn’t last that long but a brave attempt was made, they were marched round the ground and back into the Bolton end. Such was life back then. I was one of those in the home end. I'd gone on the train with a few lads from work (British Rail Engineering at Horwich) with free tickets. I think I was about 18 or 19 and really wasn't comfortable. The Bristol fans realised who we were pretty much straight away and kept a distance at first. This allowed the police to also realise we were Bolton and they came in to get us out. We were escorted around the ground and into the away end. Part way, a copper asked me what was in my carrier bag. I told him it was a can of beer (It was a Party 7) and he told me I had to take it to the police control box outside the ground. They gave me a cloakroom ticket as a receipt and stuck the other half on the can. Five minutes to go I went back to collect. I showed my ticket and he passed me the can. I acted as though I'd won top prize in a raffle. Copper just didn't find it funny at all. We didn't bother with the train back but jumped on that single coach, sitting in the middle of the aisle supping my can. Stopping at service stations for a bit of shop lifting on the way back.
January 3, 20197 yr Few years after that visit went on the train, can’t remember who with but in same train were 3-4 BWFC lads from Swinton one was man city fan, they were smashed by the time we arrived in Bristol they said they were gonna have a beer round St. Paul’s district this was not long after the riots down there, anyhow met them on train home and one of them got stabbed, wasn’t a suprise the state they were in pre match. Haven’t a clue what year that was or the result. I’ve not got a good record at Ashton gate, no wonder it’s a no from me. Edited January 3, 20197 yr by Mounts Kipper

January 4, 20197 yr I went to the game we won 1-0 (Patterson) 1993? I was in the home end and they were baffled by the away end singing "We are the one and only Wanderers" non stop for the last 20 mins . "Ere,wot they singin' about loike?" Decent night out round Bristol after, don't recall seeing many whites - but i was fairly pissed tbf. Happy days.

(was it not the year Bristol City and Rovers got promoted ?) Before the match, me and my dad were lost in the car and ended up following a convoy of about 5 cars of wanderers fans. They stopped outside this pub and all got out. We drove up the road, couldn't find anywhere to park, so turned round and went back past the pub - just as the Bolton fans came back out - all windows smashed, bodies everywhere. 1 guy was getting twatted with an exhaust pipe from the garage across the road. Real moody and big following that day.

Think that was the game where you went in the "wrong" pub before the game and we had to get a refund from a cancelled trip to Luton (off memory) from Pete Entwistle. Bloody hell 24 years ago.
