i listened to an interview on the radio talking about notts county few days ago. I love Nolan from his playing days but it’s a no from me to him being our manager. 

Sounds like an owner trying to pass the blame to me. Of course a manager is going to spend money if you give it him, Nolan was hardly going to say “no, keep your money I’ll get promotion without it”.

To be fair though I’m an outsider looking in, I’ve no idea how he actually got on there other than the stats, I know there’s a few Nottingham based lads on here who might know a bit more. I’m not at all saying he’s definitely the right person for the job but I think someone in that mould would be ideal for our “fresh start”, the fact he has the love from the crowd already would just be an added bonus.

Grayson has a proven track record of getting sides out of L1 and in to the Championship. He'd by my choice out of those you mention. Rowett is a good call and someone is going to get a gifted manager in him at some point - but he had a rough time at Stoke and he's never managed in L1 and that's why I'd give Grayson the edge. There may be others to bring in to the frame - but it's that track record of promotion from League 1 and consolidation in the championship I'd be looking for. Bruce Rioch was appointed in 1992 having had Boro promoted from tier 3 to tier 2 in 1987.

Big Sam? If the new owners have serious money then I'd ask him back to oversee an updated version of the much lauded back-room and the scientific approach he created in the 2000s. Any manager would benefit from having that level of infrastructure.

Just wanted to say thank you for putting my mind at rest Howard, I really thought the worse for Bolton. The father in law put me on to this forum and certain statements made on here have come true. Totally agree with the statements about BN and Nixon, completely untrustworthy IMO. Just looking for likes on social media.

BSA and KN would be good for the club, it would be a huge boost for everyone but I couldn't see them coming back in any capacity.

I know what you're saying but I'd say it's "one step at a time". There's a queue of very large clubs at the top of the Championship and we're not going to be jumping that queue. Slowly but surely. Step 1: Get back in to the Championship, Step 2: Consolidate in the Championship. It's 2013 since we were last in the top half at tier 2 level. 

Did Rowett not manage Burton in L1? I had it in my mind they were top when he went to Brum and JFH took over?

Rowett is better when he has no money to spend.

Good point and part of me agrees, but wouldn't the new owner/s identify a manager that would be part of a longer term project?

if the new owners are going to come in and top up our income with a few million each year then it needs to be spent wisely on the front line (players) 

BSA isn’t cheap anyway, let alone as a DOF with another manger to pay on top 

Granted BSA is excellent with all the back room stuff and technology but I really don’t think we have the resources for such a big structure. We had something like 50 guys behind the scenes under him last time, even if you had 20 on £40k a year it’s a million pounds a year that we don’t have

Unless this new mob are chucking money at it, but then you have got FFP to think about - I doubt that will be our biggest concern though

It would depend if he/his staff are employees of the club, or employees of a business contracted to the club.

I was just making the point that where we ended up with him last time would be an expensive model to replicate in League 1 with only £10m turnover 

BSA did wonders here early on when money was tight but he had the hunger then to get on and prove himself

Parky did a great job last time of getting us back up straight away but it was largely done on the back of experienced pros with several youth players being released and not getting a look in. Now would be a good time to look to build something sustainable with longer term benefits.

It's a good question but how many players drift out of the game because they never get an opportunity or a run of games to establish themselves? 

Certainly,  some won't be up to it but you'll never know if you don't chuck em in. Like you say - probably best for another thread!

I reckon around the north west, players bwfc release will at least get a chance to continue their career elsewhere
