MancWanderer Posted November 29, 2020 Author Posted November 29, 2020 Fucking hell. Sat down at 5pm to watch what I thought would be a routine Hamilton win Those images of Grosjean sat in the burning car and then getting out were summat else. The doctor who legged it to him and grabbed him.....partial fire protection but nothing like the marshals or drivers. The inferno is less than 6 feet away from him but his only thought is get Grosjean out. Immense Quote
Winchester White Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 I am still amazed the bloke survived never mind jumped out of the car himself. Can you imagine hitting the central reservation at well over a ton and your car setting on fire? You would be dead by the impact never mind being deaderer by burning to a crisp. Senna was watching down on him today, and I am not in any way religious. Quote
Zico Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 I know nowt about F1 but just seen on SSN he puts his survival all down to "halo", some safety measure he was opposed to when it first came in a couple of years ago, but meant all he got was minor burns to his hands and ankles Quote

Lady luck was with him for sure, driving through a barrier over 140mph and surviving is unreal. Quote

He’s come out of the corner, seen Raikonnen(?) go off to the left and come quickly on to the back of a few cars in front and gone for the gap on the right. Unfortunately he’s not seen that there wasn’t a gap as there was a car on his right. He’s full throttle, bounced tyres, and gone straight into the barrier still accelerating. His mistake imo but thank god he’s alive Quote

Underpants Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 These ere fire and safety marshals at the F1 GPs. Is it down for the circuit to provide their own? Or are they part of a big team following the F1 circus around the world? Just wondering because the first person to Romain Grosjean when he got out was a Brit doctor. Quote

The on-track marshalls were busy running away from the scene to save their own lives. Can’t say I blame them, pointless being there if you end up part of the wreckage. I was a bit disappointed at the efforts of one or two particularly the guy who must’ve been pushing 25 stones and stood there, extinguisher in hand doing fuck all. By the way Undies, the Brit doctor is supposed to be there or there-abouts. He was following in a fairly fast car for exactly this eventuality. Quote

A medical/safety car follows the racing cars round on the first lap as that’s the most likely time for an accident to happen. Its the same 2, highly trained guys every time. Quote

It just got me thinking after yesterday's accident. Would make sense having the same team at all the races. Quote

Whether that manifests itself when an incident occurs I'm not sure. Quote
Rudy Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 The steward who ran across the track has got some bollocks. Quote

The only motor sport I know off ( i'm prepared to be called wrong on this) that as a dedicated safety crew is the NHRA (Drag racing over here). some good one here Quote
Spider Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Hamilton has got Covid so will miss this weekends race. Be something else if his replacement wins. Wonder who it’ll be...? Quote
