F1 is back

Looking forward to this season

Changes to the front wing supposed to mean more overtaking - lets see

Tyre compounds simplified

Just sat down to watch recording of qualifying. Be interesting to see if Hamilton still dominant but Red Bull the big curiosity for me this year. Will they move forward or slip back into the pack?

Quite.

Made a rod for their own backs here, of course red bull were a bit aggrieved when they were going round behind the safety car, but the rules were there and if they had let all the back markers go, it should have meant no racing on the last lap. Red bull would have grumped but would have accepted it.

Instead Horner got into then (can't blame him) and they cocked up.

Now a much bigger problem for them.

As much as it would seem wrong, I can see an offer of joint winners being made. As they're making up rules now, then why not!

There is no provision for joint winners anywhere in the rules though. I believe (not 100% sure) they can scrub the last lap and declare the result as the end of the e penultimate lap. Which is what they should do. Vertstappen has won it when he shouldn’t have. Race should have finished under the safety car. By doing that they follow the rules correctly which you have to do. Simple really

Result will stand

Overtaking under the safety car is open to interpretation as they’re driving slowly and constantly pressing their brakes etc…

And he probably only went ahead by about 2 cm

Netflix cameras will be all over this though, it’s perfect for them. “You couldn’t write a script like this”. Hmmmmm

Or Max could have just stayed behind like he's supposed to?

It is another bitchy argument though.

I know fuck all about it, but surely you can't just change the rules mid race?

Isn't it like ignoring  handballs for the last 5 minutes of a match?

Correct

I agree entirely.

But as I said, given they've started changing the rules with a lap left, then who knows?

Maybe it's a way out for the FIA, and one which avoids legal action.

Spot on. They’ve dropped a massive massive clanger and I suspect they know that.
I reckon this is being overturned

Red bull for your volcano, or the FIA?

It has to be overturned. If they don’t then what happens next season when they penalize  someone for breaking the rules. The same rules they themselves broke to cost someone a world title. It’s a massive fuck up. I don’t think you could have a bigger mess to sort out.

FIA

I like red bull and max I just don’t like Horner, but this is calamitous.

The gammons will be delighted by this result. Same ones who hate Amir Khan.

If they follow the rules to the letter when assessing this here then they’ve been broken that’s clear. How they resolve it I don’t know.

If they say the safety car should have stayed out till the end of the next lap which is apparently the rule then the race would have been over.

It’s the only thing they can do , isn’t it? How can they uphold the result when it’s reliant on them saying breaking rules is ok

Popped in the pub for a couple. It's a hot topic of conversation as on here. One thing that strikes me is all the fuckers that are happy Hamilton lost (I worded it that way on purpose, they don't give a fuck about F1 or Max) are the same fuckers that claim "we won" on brexit, hate football players taking the knee and think migrant boats should be shot and sank.

Just an observation

I think so if they want a clean definitive position. Anything else is always going to be subjective in terms of what would have happened.

Not sure what that means.

Genuinely just an observation I thought I'd voice after reading what dazbob said.

Not tryna start any shenanigans, I just grin at them to be honest, don't get involved in politics shite int pub. I'd not speak to half of them I consider friends if I did 😂

Utter shitshow.

I think Max is a brilliant if unrefined driver but I have no issue with him winning this year's title if it wasn't won in this way. Massi has fucked up big style.

I wonder if the FIA will throw the whole race result out as null and void under some weird rule and Max still ends up winner and they try and save face over the whole debacle? Massi ends up binned of course.

That’s exactly what I’ve just been thinking. Would not surprise me

But like Boris bumbling on to the telly at 8 o'clock saying how we all need to work together to fight the virus.

But if it then has implications for the constructors championship further down then they can’t as they would face challenge from the other teams affected.

The FIA will stand their ground.

No-one will fancy a few days in court over a sporting decision, broken rules or not.

In the end, we all got the race and dramatic ending Netflix wanted us to.

Edited by Spider

What evidence can Red Bull actually our forward. They can’t quote the rule book as it’s been broken. They can’t say that Massi had the ability to break the rules and do what he did as he doesn’t/didn’t have that authority.

On one side you’ve a team citing the rules of the sport. On the other side a team saying it’s not fair we won the race.

more I think of it more I cannot see how it stands. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it did as it’s an utter shitshow
