The town of Bolton has given me everything, a team what has more ups and downs than a big dipper, but the comradeship of the lads I have met over the years are the finest you could ever meet.

So true, you see fashions come and go but the fans who stayed loyal in the proper shite days of sub 5000 fans at BP and went all over the country to watch bilge, but still went home happy with a belly

I'm proud that my primary school was in the only one in Salford to have an outdoor swimming pool... Got used twice a year I think.

Equally, my high school had one of finest steel bands around- we had bars on the music room windows. Only in LH could the creative department favver a low security prison

Shaun Ryder’s school? It didn’t do him any harm.

The other one I think. Though the first house I bought was four doors down from his childhood home... I think 😂

Aye, Willy was on the scene for a while. TOTB lad as mentioned. The various skirmishes I used to have walking home as a skinhead through TOTB might have involved him - can't quite remember if he was one of them. Stopped after one of them came off worst and Lever End alliances were established. There was another Al with the initials AW from up Blenheim Road who had a tilt at being their 'cock' but that didn't last long. Willy was around for a  short while in some of the mad years on the Lever End but certainly didn't stick. Never to be matched aggro in that period (late '68 to early '72 ish). Still shake my head at some of the things I witnessed.

AB was a rum fucker. Couldn't hurt him. One of them blokes you hit with your best shot and he instantly was up again like nowt had happened. There had been a previous 'fight' between cocks of the two schools which ended very quickly in favour of AB. Three blows only and it was all over.  Hall'I'th'Wood family. His next brother down (Bubs) was a bloody good footballer but I seem to recall struggling to control his weight stopped him reaching the heights he could have? Steejay? Must have been in your year or the one above?

Norris never caned me but that bastard Paddy Roberts did. He was a twisted fucker who enjoyed inflicting pain. Him and that DMB Townsend.

Just remembered Bubs - Steven Brockhouse! He was in the year above me, not very tall but hard as nails. As you said, good footy player.. He was a great lad but he looked about 40 years old when he was 15! Don’t tell him though.😁

I think all that family were as hard as nails mate! I don't use full names on here just in case. He might be lurking and not need me to tell him what you said!

Beltin' lad and did well academically too if I remember rightly. Recall bumping into him a couple of times at away matches - one that great night at the old Baseball Ground when we won 2-1 and had an interesting post match with some feisty rams!

Same secondary school years as myself. Big birthday coming up in the next 12 months Riz?

My era too. KT used to slipper you just for talking in class. 2 goes and hurt like hell. Didn't KT get into trouble for hitting a second year 6 times?

Brian Smith the music teacher would use the slipper too. No pain at all.

Fuck me, this is getting into a County Grammar love-in. 😍

What years where you there pal?

71 to 77. I didn't realise BCGS had so many Wanderers fans.

Do you know if a 60 year reunion is going on (age of the pupils that is)? 20 years ago went to the 40th reunion at Holiday Inn  between Xmas and New Year and it was well attended.

Paddy was there in a very fetching electric blue jacket, Mr Smith, Mr Levy and Andy Todd. Andy Todd nutted the barman   .... oh, hang on, that's the other Andy Todd.

I was well out if it by the end of the night and don't recall how I got back to my mum's place.

I had no idea so many whites at BCGS most of them claimed to be either Liverpool it United.

Think it had wained a bit by the early 80s.

It had wained everywhere in the early 80s. We were utter shite. Bit like now.

John Barnes eh? Lived in Harwood. Went in the Griffin pub in town. (Although long after all the REAL hard men had gotten too old). Yeh big bad self proclaimed i'm hard 'barney' with the big loud ("one hundred and eighty") croaky gob! The same one that truth be told thought nothing of threatening violence to women and could only beat up incapacitated drunks and hit someone from behind when they're not aware with a suckerpunch! He was nobody. Good riddence.

Spelling and/or punctuation mistake.

Well at least you had the courtesy to correct your spelling and grammar.

Any need for that in a R.I.P. thread?

If you can't show some respect, don't bother commenting at all FFS.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're thinking of somebody else. ( or possibly that you tried your luck against him & came unstuck )

The person you're describing would not have been so well liked & well thought of around town & back in the day, at Bolton & England football.

BCGS - 76 to 83 when I had to go to Bolton North sixth form college - gutted coz we never got to use the common room
