August 5, 20197 yr Never been to the Ricoh, been to Highfield Rd a few times in my past and seen some great games in the 70s between the clubs. The 87 cup tie with us taking a huge following and getting beat by the eventual cup winners was a good day. Our run in 96 and taking a Cov scalp away in our relegation season was a boost, anyway I will leave out the fact they beat us 1-5 at the reebok and failed to beat those scouse cunts when it mattered.
August 5, 20197 yr Went to the League cup game a few years later. Philliskirk with a corking free kick iirc.
August 5, 20197 yr Think I've only seen us play them twice At burnden in the pl when we had a McFarland out protest on the car park and last time out in league one
August 5, 20197 yr Never been to the Ricoh, but I went to the FA cup game in the 80's at Highfield Road when we lost 3-0 I think, I still remember Jackie Wilson's Reet Petite song being played at some point.
August 5, 20197 yr The 2-2 at their place sticks out with a formidable Nathan Blake. A bloke turned up in my old local many moons ago who reckoned he was top boy in the cov legion. Total fuckin psychopath and ended up killing a bloke outside the bispham hotel.

Complete maniac. https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/jail-for-man-whose-headbutt-killed-victim-1-367528/amp Pretty much got away Scot free for killing someone. Off on a tangent here... who remembers the 5-1 Match
August 5, 20197 yr That cup game (86-87ish) was absolutely freezing, Cyrille Regis played and probably scored. I had flu .
August 5, 20197 yr Author The " Mercers Arms " near Highfield Rd was always a good boozer to sup in, Bolton took it over in 87 well before kick off time.
August 5, 20197 yr The 2-0 Stubbs game Ferny got slung out on the way in iirrc, he had a knack for that, did it at Brentford once as well except he got nicked for telling the acting Chief Inspector that he was acting the cunt 😁
August 5, 20197 yr I remember a Burnden game where they wore the infamous brown kit. Also remember a very well observed minutes silence before a game at Highfield; checking back it will have been for the Dunblane massacre in March 96.
August 5, 20197 yr One of my first ever games was against them in the league cup. 1-3 defeat about 1975/76 ish. Hammered it down. John Byrom may have scored for us
August 5, 20197 yr I went to the 87 cup tie. Micky Gynn ran us ragged. Not even our prolific striker Mark Came could save us. Also went to the 2-2 and 2-0 away win in the prem. Not seen us at the Ricoh

August 5, 20197 yr The whistle protest the other year at theirs in the freezing cold was a strange affair.

August 5, 20197 yr 2-2 at the Ricoh, junior was sick out of my car window on the way - giving it a new design, equalised in the last minute and got back to the car to be greeted with a parking ticket !!

That shot from distance was a cracker on a pudding of a pitch. What sort of reaction did he get given it was a good few months after “watch this space”?
