Its good

The view is the first vac gives a good degree of protection

So put off the second to allow more to get their first jab

Its the same as AZ...12 week gap allowed as the first jab gives 70%

It’s good. Means the first dose provides a high level of protection.

Just hope they can scale up production.

Whats it made of, this vaccine stuff?

Pfizer apparently is a new type of vax

AZ is old technology

It'll be mainly made of bleach with an ultraviolet light shoved up your arse as a chaser, won't it?

I think it’s clearly down to the production. Plus what we don’t know is how quick this can actually be made of course. What we have maybe the fruits of a month hard production. This is where @MancWanderer or @peelyfeetcould maybe shed some light

(but lads if you are going to shed any light please do NOT mention the south east. He’s hurting. Badly. )

Tbh mate I know very little about production and manufacturing but you’ve just prompted me to email a bloke I vaguely know at work who’s on that side of things

His guess, and I emphasise guess (as who on earth would put idle speculation on a footy forum 😀) is that AZ will have probably manufactured a considerable amount of stock if they were confident in their trial results. If they then suddenly need an increased amount of stock they “may” be able to increase production by scaling back in other areas but then again the actual production of the vaccine may be the rate limiting step ie it’s simply not possible to make more than a certain amount in a certain time?

When Covid first struck and a No Deal Brexit was a distinct possibility we went from 3 months factory stock to 6 months stock within weeks so it can be done in certain sectors. But vaccines? Dunno. Never been involved as such

Like I mentioned earlier it’s getting folk to give the vaccines, health agencies are hammering job sites with posts but these need to be processed and checked off

Why must we?

They haven't been shut! (Unless we're including holidays)

I'd have thought that was obvious, I'm not sure why people thought there would be tens of millions of doses ready to go from Monday

Comments earlier about each batch needing to be checked (q.c.). Presumably clean downs etc of plant in between.

Without extra plant, must be limited capacity.
