Tier fucking 4, my arse and pointless! Staff and Students who are clinically vulnerable can't come in. The Tier lockdown system won't work if education remains open. You either lockdown fully or you don't. Have to agree, schools will spread the disease more than anywhere else. The new variant is supposedly easier spread, It’s mental schools are open, remote learning is relatively easily done, leave them closed until after February half term and use that time to vaccinate teaching staff. Suppose its possible they might extend it, depending upon numbers of cases. Also another hundred thousand devices being delivered for online learning, so perhaps they're preparing for just that eventuality. Quote

If schools are open, everything else should open. If everything else is closed, close the fucking schools. Otherwise nothing makes sense. kent_white Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Make this final effort and get the vaccine in our arms and things willook a lot different in 6 months. Let's not mess this up now. Quote

Some self isolating some dont, some miss more college/school, there's no fairness about this, especially with different tiers across the country. The fairness is trying to prevent hospitalisations. As shitty as it is, it's not beyond the wit of education department, further/higher education establishments and employers to take into account the difficulties suffered when offering places. Quote

MancWanderer Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Just fucking lock down properly. Like we did at first. Just shut everything other than food and medicine. Early days just before my MiL died me and Mrs Manc would hop on our bikes and cycle to see the grandkids and the MiL and either stand at the end of the drive or talk through the window at each house. Barely any traffic on the road and cop vans circling the area challenging folk out and about. Didn’t actually stop it happening but it wasn’t as bad as it now appears to be in terms of transmission of the virus. These bubbles? Waste of time. Stepdaughter is a single parent so is fully entitled to bring two snot-ridden rugrat grandkids here at any time. I used to do a shop for my mum. Drive across to Bolton. Put the bags inside the utility room at her back door, have a chat at a distance and then leave. She used to text me her shopping list so that if I was stopped I could prove what I was doing We’ve gone way too lax. Go back to how it was originally and add in the vaccine programme. It really isn’t that difficult Quote
