I was thinking this back of a fag packet maths isn't helping. It'll just make folk annoyed because we'll still be in lockdown during Feb and into spring and they'll quote this sort of stuff.

If we are getting 2m vaccines a week. I will be annoyed if they are not being used immediately.

Yes. In my last contract job for 2 years.

Loads of red tape  but this is simply saying do we have enough bums on seats  The NHS must know how many vaccines can be delivered on average per day per person  half the problem will be people over complicating the process . They have had months to get ready so should be all guns blazing

Good you will understand my point which was more to get a definitive answer about anything is nigh on impossible due to red tape and some incompetence. So to get them to tell the government how they propose to fulfill this task could take some Time in itself!

Be annoyed all you want, this finger counting really doesn't help those who are actually doing the job and know the actual issues they are facing.

A health leader said at the weekend "There is no magic pile of nurses " to staff the Nightingale hospitals. There are similar problems regards vaccinations

No. But as stated we have known for months we would be getting a vaccine and it would need administering. This not a job that needs to be done by fully qualified nurses. Do you agree we should know how many people we need to administer 2m per week ? And we should know how many we have who can ?

I'm absolutely with you on this. I think the resource needed will be way way higher than your initial estimates but we simply have to throw everything we've got at at this. Right now I'm not even sure who is ultimately responsible for getting it done.

I think its less to do with incompetence but actual resources. Staff and logistics.

OK then, who is going to do these vaccinations?

Hang about. Are you saying knowing how many people we need to do the job properly is an issue ?

I'd say the jabber could reasonably do 25 an hour, so 160 a day

He/she will need a support team of about 2.5

I have no idea. My point is we have known for months this was coming. We should not be asking the question today. It should have been resolved already.

Ah, righty ho.

My numbers are totally made up. I just do not see how you can start a job not knowing how many people you will need. Why order 2m vaccines a week but only have capacity to deliver 500k.

I think you’re right hence the use of some in my response. But you better believe there are some highly paid fuckwits in the nhs who I would trust to walk a dog or empty a bin

Because if they had ordered 500k a week people would have asked why not 2m. If the answer had been we don’t have enough people to do 2m we would still be here where we are right  this very second.

Stop being a clever cunt. What do you disagree with ?

If we are getting 2m vaccines a week we should be resourced up to administer 2m vaccines a week. If we are not it is a major fuck up. This has not just landed we have been talking vaccines for months.

So we now need using the numbers above to build facilities to store 1.5 m vaccines a week. My question is why would we not have enough people ? Any project plan it is the first thing you look at.

Kent spoke about this a while back, and the protocols requiring those vaccinated to be monitored for a while after.

If this is still happening, then there will be capacity issues inside buildings together with limits on those waiting.

Not as simple as the flu jab.

This with bells so big on it you can see them from space

There should be an army of people ready.

There may be, but the lack of confirmation tells me it's unlikely

We knew in June that vaccines were on the way - there should be a robust plan in place to deliver them.

If the manufacturer has limitations, fair enough. But the distribution and delivery-to-arm should be ready.

If it isn't, Boris is a bigger cunt than I thought.

Correct, some people seem to think there will be queues of people lining up, and a nurse will be able to chunk through about 100 an hour. Somebody on LBC this morning reckoned on average, about 6 an hour is what we'll be looking at.

There is also the logistical nightmare of getting these "vulnerable" people to the vaccine as well.

It'll come good eventually, but it'll take quite a bit of time, we'll be T4 until Feb, possibly March and then we might start to see an easing, and even then it'll be slow and steady

Quite, but we dont know numbers who are ready to jab away do we?

Loads of health professionals are also off with the virus itself which can't be helping.

First day of az jabs and folk have been bitching away for days already. Sad.

AZ can go to the vulnerable Pfizer cant

It is I agree with you on that. And for a vaccine that doesn’t need anything overly complex like the Pfizer one does I would also expect a plan to be on the table of we need x. And then it’s about delivering then. But we don’t know if there is or isn’t such a plan. I suspect there is. Implementation will be massively different I fear

Absolutely. But that's much less efficient.

Monitoring is watching somebody for 10 to 15 minutes

It might not be as simple as the flu jab in that consents need to be signed, but its not beyond the wit of man to sort it

My numbers are very achievable

It is, but I wouldn't expect the production line to be disrupted

Nursing homes ought to be able to do their own
