Nope, waaaaaay off. No uproar, being ignored is way worse. Folk are taking no notice of them whatsoever now. Thats what is shocking.

I'm about to finish off 'We own the night'- seems an appropriate title.

When the population stop following the rules, the govt has to be on limited time

Utter bollocks. The population? The vast majority are abiding by the rules. The ones who aren’t are using this as an excuse as they always have.
The problems we are having now are the same as every other country in Europe. Have you seen the figures for Ireland?

This isn't about individuals ignoring things, this is about educational institutions, local authorities... when the systems used to manage the levers of government are ignoring centralised advice, then that is a real problem for the public.

As I say, who then do we follow? Once trust is lost, its going to be harder to control this.

The tories have said schools are to stay open

They will be closed by weekend

Because theyve lost control

The messaging is clear. The fact that unions are disagreeing with it is a different matter.

Think we'll see a wider closure of schools in the worst areas anyway- this was hinted at during the last public update, and statement in the house. People tend not to listen fully though and get on their high horse.

The government has been ignored by local authorities and backing schools shutting despite the prime minister saying the opposite. You don't think thats an issue?

Deary me, quite laughable.

It’s 1984 all over again; this is the Miners Strike for the 20s; same old foe

Unions closing schools

Supposedly education unions

More like anti-education

I don't like unions in the main. However, there is a global pandemic going on and a new strain that is ripping through the country.

So much so schools in London and areas of the SE are shut.  Look at the case rates, they are going almost vertical in nearly all areas.

I know you are more inclined to keep the economy going and are more supportive of the Government than most on here, but it is a right shit show at the moment.

It is like the manager (gov) has lost the dressing room (pop).

There are thousands of reasons thats not even remotely a correct analogy.

The Government are there to govern. Doesn’t matter what political persuasion they are. After nearly 12 months of this shit, people still want to make this a political matter. Look around the world. They aren’t all Tories.

Who are the baddies then? The government or the teachers?

Or is it divided along political lines?

They are there to govern, agreed

If the population decide theyre not going to be governed, its a big moment

And lets not fall for 'its the unions'

Define population? You mean people who don’t want to follow the rules correct? That isn’t the population. I can assure you.

I’m on the opposite side of the fence

If schools need to be shut in london to stop the spread and london is tier 4

Why does it not follow that schools need to be closed across tier 4

I feel for parents who now wont be able to go to work and are trying to oirt stuff at 9pm on sunday night

Game ? 😂😂. Nae bother 👍🏼

My wife works in a police control room. She has done throughout this crisis. Yes that’s what it is. A crisis. It’s a control room that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (366 in a leap year) The amount of shit they have had to put up with during all this is worse than anything since she started 38 years ago. She’s just worked all over Christmas and new Year. No complaints, no extra money, nowt.
And then of course there are the NHS workers and the care workers. All have done the same and probably more.

I have a lot of respect for teachers. Not as much as the ones mentioned above though but this now seems to be all about them.

Well, the messaging has been so confusing. Is that because they're trying to micromanage every aspect of it?

Do people think closing schools will reduce the number of infections ?

If yes. Then the answer is clear.

If no. What is the alternative ?

If yes..... but..... what is the but ?

Nothing political but if as reported hospital beds are reaching critical level what else can done ?

if things are worse than earlier in the year it would seem logical with the new variant we should need to go further.

Stick a fork in us, we're done

We’re in deep shit

Shocking, that must be game set and match based on that trajectory, unless they get that vaccine rolled out chop chop

Aye, and it's going to get a whole lot worse over the next week or two. Hopefully we can get this vaccine rolled out quickly and efficiently, but I'm not holding my breath on that happening
