I don't think Boris wants a full lockdown but he needs to get people onside and follow the rules, how? not a clue

I don’t think anyone wants a full lockdown mate. It’s just become a necessity now

Already decided. Which is why I can’t see why they aren’t just coming out and delivering the message now.

you know it’s bad/serious when the tories and labour aren’t using this to have a pop at krankie and generate political capital. Politics to one side during this. Many people would do well to follow suit.

He's got to um and ah for a bit.

That's what he does.

To be honest with schoolsshut, all but essential shops shut, I don't see what difference a complete lockdown will make to us down here at the moment. There's nothing left to close and we have been told to stay at home.

Boris on telly at 8pm.

Press conference tonight.

Gives Boris ample to time to fluff his hair up all special like

cue the panic buying

Sounds like nurseries are shutting in scotchland

Unlike tier 4 in London where its just primary schools.

💣

Dry(ish) January is on a knife edge already!

Up here, there's still masses on the motorway in the mornings

Cant see us being told to stay at home

You’re not I wouldn’t imagine as krankie has left manufacturing open. However your 1m social distancing space in the canteen moves to 2m so you will be suitably protected 😁

The numbers all sound great until you start actually putting patients in. The vast majority are 75+. I reckon a good third of them won't be able to make it into surgery or are house bound so will need home visits.

Of the ones who can make it in - a lot will say they can't make the appointment. And a lot won't have a valid phone number when you try to ring them. Some will forget that they had an appointment  altogether. Most of the work is going to be in the back office actually trying to get people in.

People will be turning up on the working day/early/late. You'll need people shepherding and stewards for when people arrive.

Providing you've absolutely nothing else to do (pre safety checks/paperwork/aftercare/answering questions etc) you could probably do max 12 an hour as a nurse. Giving you time to sanitise the area afterwards. If you need to draw up the solution I reckon you're looking at 10 min appointments.

The holding area will need a clinician in the very unlikely event that someone has a reaction.

It sounds easy but believe me there's a lot more goes into a big health event like that than you might realise.

IMHO the only way we'll get this out enough masse is by training non clinicians to do the jab and the nurses and Dr's overseeing in case anything goes wrong.

And remember all this is on top of our usual jobs which haven't stopped.

It might result in more non-essential workplaces closing. During the first lockdown train carraiges were practically empty. That certainly isn't the case under Tier 4 (in my experience).

Apart from schools Scotland's new restrictions are similar to tier 4.

Anyway, he's up at 8pm so we might be following suit today.

Cheers for this. A bit of reality.

Radio 4 had a chat with someone from the mhra. They also have to pass each batch prior to it being issued. They have plenty of capacity to do this, batch size will play a role in dictating speed of release; the bigger a batch the more will be released in one go.

Plenty of sniping before anything has got going.

We’re already in restrictions tougher than English tier 4 even before these new ones so im confused?

Just gone a bit tougher still.

Your lot have made it law now, which is a step further too.

When you look at some of the wording, non essential businesses should be closed in tier 4, and people are only supposed to be going to work if they can't work from home.

This is very similar to what the radio just said about Scotland.

Interestingly, up your way, outside groups of up to six have been allowed (again radio), and now down to 2. Down here its only one person from one household to meet one other from a different one. Families ok to be together.

Restrictions are broadly similar, but have some subtle differences, with one bit seemingly more strict down here and another bit stricter up north.

I think in jockdown they're only allowed to meet two people from two different households outside

I think Boris might impose no outdoor mixing of households whatsoever
