The numbers all sound great until you start actually putting patients in. The vast majority are 75+. I reckon a good third of them won't be able to make it into surgery or are house bound so will need home visits.

Of the ones who can make it in - a lot will say they can't make the appointment. And a lot won't have a valid phone number when you try to ring them. Some will forget that they had an appointment  altogether. Most of the work is going to be in the back office actually trying to get people in.

People will be turning up on the working day/early/late. You'll need people shepherding and stewards for when people arrive.

Providing you've absolutely nothing else to do (pre safety checks/paperwork/aftercare/answering questions etc) you could probably do max 12 an hour as a nurse. Giving you time to sanitise the area afterwards. If you need to draw up the solution I reckon you're looking at 10 min appointments.

The holding area will need a clinician in the very unlikely event that someone has a reaction.

It sounds easy but believe me there's a lot more goes into a big health event like that than you might realise.

IMHO the only way we'll get this out enough masse is by training non clinicians to do the jab and the nurses and Dr's overseeing in case anything goes wrong.

And remember all this is on top of our usual jobs which haven't stopped.

Its amazing how many housebound have acquired the ability to get to appointments

And no drawing up with AZ

  • Nicola Sturgeon says the current expectation is that by early May everyone over 50, and people under 50 with specific underlying conditions, will have received at least their first dose of Covid vaccine

Not sure if that has any bearing on down south but it’s a million miles away from even where she herself said we would be only a week or two ago. Something has changed behind the scenes and we’ve no Idea what.

She can thank us for the vaccine 😉

Why should everyone be told?

Do we get told how many nurses are around to give the flu vaccines each year?

Do we get told how many cancer doctors there are etc..

Specific numbers aren't directly relevant- so long as they can match supply and meet targets, and get us done when called thats all that matters.

So you don't want to know the targets?

I fucking do. Be nice to have an idea when my mam and dad will be safe

Maybe I'm just curious then.

The answer is

Boris is wrong

Now, what’s the question?

I find it incredible that Mick expects to be told such minutae.

You posted something about burdensome paperwork which seems over the top, but even that, of itself, doesn't mean insufficient people are available.

Next time I order a Chinese, I want to know how many grains of rice will be delivered.

Just now, mickbrown said:

Dunno. To both.

But the point is that's done as a matter of business as usual. Without pulling out the stops.

Aye

But if 15m had the flu jab over a period of time that is longer than what is planned for covid, then its not comparable

Plus if the same 15m need the covid jab another day, then that's 15m further injections before you've even started on those that need covid but not the flu, so effectively 30m jabs for 15m people before we've even touched the sides

8 minutes ago, DirtySanchez said:

If so, its not as simple as saying we vaccinated 15m with the flu jab so covid is a formality

Ideally there should be a gap of 7 days.

Further away or closer?

Further away. End of March we were told for complete vaccination of that group. It’s now will have had one jab but two months later.

Targets aren't minutae.

You seem to be happy to be told your Chinese will be with you sometime before May, if we get the rice.

And we know why they won't tell us their targets

I fancy a chinky for tea now

This is fucking hard work. Have you read my posts, fully?

Deep breath.

I've already said, more than once, as long as the numbers they want to do are done thats fine. Which means meeting their targets. They have said they would like to do 2m a week. Is that enough for you or too many?

How many people do we need for this- do you know? No, do you fuck, so what does it matter how many are available, because its meaningless to those of us not in the job. We dont need to know.

What we do need to do is turn up and get injected when called for.

If that happens slower than they claim, then fine, moan away.

If not, be grateful.

Ta. Mustn't have the rice yet.

Tonge Moor aint arsed either way

Just interviewed a retired GP on five live about volunteering to administer the vaccine. He said the amount of bureaucracy and re-training is counter productive to getting the required numbers to roll out the vaccine. That is something that should have been assessed before we got to this stage.

Fuck me, you'll accept any old shite they feed you won't you.

Ex fuckin zackerly.

Does it matter how many cuntin chefs are in the shop? No.

So long as they deliver it within the time stated thats all that matters.

If they say within the hour, and it comes within the hour, that's great.

If it takes 2, then its not.

If they reach 2m a week as stated, then great. None of us need to know how many are making it, delivering it, checking it and injecting it.

I like it how weve know since June. Of course we have, but that doesn't allow for all the other jobs that still needed doing on top of training or as Kent says, those who are still house bound or just simply getting them in.

Ani's plan is an ideal of those who don't have to deal with the actuality of the situation, and as I say just fuels anger and frustration in the wrong direction in my opinion.

Thankfully, all this you should do this-ism is just vapid conjecture on a football forum. This post very much included!

How many time do I need to say I do not have a plan. I have no idea of the complexity.
My point is people who are experts in this area should provide those numbers and this drives a delivery plan.
This plan could have produced as an outline 7 months ago. This would highlight the shortfalls. We then either close the gap on the shortfall by either    Training folk or looking at improving process so as Kent says could someone else draw the vaccine or do the paperwork ?
To get to a point where we have millions of doses sat on the shelves with people dying in the country and Elsewhere is not acceptable.

As a side note of all the people on here who would give the Govt a pass on this thought you would not be one.

I didn't say targets were. I said numbers of people doing it were. Stop twisting things.

Targets have been stated of 2m per week. Or doesnt that count for some reason?
