I suppose its like choosing between a life sentence in prison or the gallows, a lot of people would probably swing.

My question was how long you would say lockdown was preferable to this shitty life

I'm not sure you answered but you did say, not until it was safe to do so

I think?

I'm saying that could be weeks, months or years

6 months!!

reckon i could do 6 more weeks

Thing is nobody has a choice really. What can we do? Go to someone’s house? Would rather stay in my own.

i believe the end is in sight and I’ve stuck to it til now so I’m gonna stick with it til the end now

If we get a mutation that the vac can't cope with, we are not quite back to square one but it'll be months and months

And months

But we don’t at the moment. I could get knocked over going to the shop for milk

ifs and buts mate

Again though, if the ends not in sight?

And I'm not talking about the population fucking off the rules, im questioning how long theres a will to stay in and live like this

I know I've had enough

Its a struggle to drag myself to work everyday when there's no light at the end of the week

Thats my point

I keep my head down to avoid a virus that I'm convinced wouldve had me by now, and something else gets me

What a waste

I’m not dismissing anyone’s struggles. Mine have been real also. Everyone affected by this in varying ways.

There does come a point where we have to get on with it if we end up with an ever mutating virus that can’t be stopped. Then we just need to get on with it. But I don’t think we are there yet. We’ve a vaccine that we believe currently works and for me I think summer we will have a chunk of of our freedoms back and I don’t think there is appetite anywhere to go back to lockdown again and I don’t think many would anyway. Just need to get through these next 3/4 months

I agree but if the virus does get you and it kills You then you won’t be supping many £7 dipa’s will you. I would rather not take the risk. Another few months ain’t going to kill me.

No you said 'would I live this way till I die'

We have a vaccine that we are injecting at 500k per day. So 60m people that would be 120 days, so 4 months, maybe longer with 2 injections. 6 months ? Less as capacity increases.
But safe for me means we get rid of say 95% of the deaths, so once the over 55s are done we have broken the back of it.
We might need a regular programme bot so be it and we might have to deal with new variants again so be it.
So there has to be a point where the number vaccinated as off set such a high % of the risk it is deemed 'safe'.

We are talking weeks and months not years. After 12 weeks we will be needing to start injecting second doses but with increased capacity we should still be doing thousands of new folk every day. The only logical way to tackle this is to lockdown till we pass that tipping point comfortably.

So, if we are not sorted in 6 months

Then we try something else?

Fwiw, deaths would drop off in the summer anyway, even without vaccine

So, one of my fears is the shackles are removed and then in November is tier 4

2 in London, obviously

Btw, im always at my worst on Sunday afternoon

Thanks for the civil response  :)

i do wonder if its an age thing

Id guess you and i are a fair bit older than tom, who may have more years ahead of him

Maybe that influences an individuals opinion on how long its worth existing under these restrictions

Probably, the young ones like your kids and the old like you want to feel like they have a life

Personally i think we're taking a massive gamble going beyond 6 weeks, especially as the virus appears to be mutating and upping it's game

Get it wrong and let people out and about thinking they are safe whilst spreading a stronger version, and we could be back to square one

This government has lost enough lives and money so far with their choices and gambles i don't trust them to get it right

Having thought about it, I'll do stuff with my folks once they've had two jabs and return to normal myself once I've had two, till then it's the bare minimum for us regardless of what ideas and relaxations the government come up with, whilst supporting local business as best i can

I have enough patience to live off IPTV, Zoom and the local bottle shop and restaurant take aways till then

All my elderly relatives are dead

It’s only my social conscience stopping me from being one of the Crack On mob.

So loads of oldies die who were on the last knockings? Big deal, not my problem.

If anything it’ll trim the over populated country and free up loads of inheritance tax and boost things for us younger types.

Crack on run the gauntlet

vax these teachers get kids back as many are really struggling

Nope you are a cunt 24/7

On the new mutations the science guys have said it has characteristics that might mean the vaccine won't work (might being the key word) but they have also said as we now have the main vaccine getting another that developing the vaccine so it does work is a development rather than a restart. Plus all the vaccines work differently so one off mutations unlikely to stop all vaccines working.

Th'experts seem to think the vaccine people can tweek the current one as required. As per the flu one. Happens each year.

The quicker we are all vaccinated, the chances of mutations occurring are reduced.

If that means a few more months of restrictions whilst its done, then fine.

In fact

fuck it

Mid Feb, just go back to normal.

Turns out I actually don’t give a fuck now I’ve given it some thought.

Im sat here doing nothing like a daft twat for the sake of people I don’t know and who I owe nothing to.

If you catch it and die, it’s your own fault. Just keep a couple of spaces free at the hospital in case I need it for normal reasons.

Good luck.

I’m now in the @Mounts Kipper school of thinking that it should be every man for himself and survival of the fittest.

Its very liberating and whilst I hope no-one catches it and dies, it’s just luck of the draw.

Dont forget me when you update your wills as you gasp for air you doddery owd fuckers.
