That was one of the loveliest things to ever happen. Stood in my garden sobbing like a baby! Proud to work for the NHS 👏👏👏👏❤️

Noticed in Whitty’s graph that lockdown started after the peak

Christ, not again.

Quite interesting that. Does hint at tier 4 possibly starting to work.

The number of positive, daily tests clearly increased afterwards and is now coming down too.

Different methodology; slightly different results.

The main concern has to be those admitted to hospital for obvious reasons.

The beauty of statistics eh!

Wonder what the other age groups are like?

Naievity of statistics or useful for Govt propaganda to frighten public who aren't behaving.

The new variant is concentrated in London with much higher ratio of BAME in population.  Already proven there is higher mortality rate in those ethnicities.

I understand that people may believe that lockdowns aren’t the “right” thing to do, but there are some people who continue to argue that the lockdowns haven’t helped control the virus. This would seem to suggest otherwise.

That graph wouldn't look as pretty if it was put next to a month by month graph of UK total active cases or a graph of UK total deaths from Coronavirus (again, month by month). Also the last 3 days figures have risen every day to 40,000 new cases on Friday.

Some discussion of that this morning. Some cunts won't take any notice though.

Been to Huddersfield hospital today. Nurse says ICU has 14 beds out of 16 currently in use & they've opened 2 Wards now for Covid which are at 95% occupancy, so looking to open a 3rd ward.

She said that the new South African variant has had a higher mortality rate & the new Brazilian variant is supposed to be worse still.

They've had their first vaccination but their 2nd vaccination has been put back as the government want to get the high risk people through on their 1st vaccination first.

Also been warned that the vaccination should work with the South African variant but they don't think it will work on the Brazil variant & they're expecting this thing to carry on for at least another 12-18 months!

What's the difference between Tier 3/4, with schools closed for Christmas, and lockdown?

Not a great deal I don't think. Presumably fewer businesses etc can open.

Pretty much half a million jabs in one day. What a great effort from everyone involved 👏

Got a link?

It's definitely a risky strategy as it's an not approved drug after something like 40 days

Get this wrong now isn't worth thinking about, the other option is ease lockdown once the first lot have had the second jab, that will he April/May which also isn't worth thinking about

When do we think we'll start entering back into the tier system?

Think everyone is well aware they'll still be a tier system for the next 12 month or so

April/May?

I'd have thought back in to a tier system from May

Doesn't seem to be the same concern over the Oxford one.

Anyway, at the rate they're going, they may well be able to reduce the interval and still do well.

We don’t really know, but 10m?

In the UK it's just over 3.5m, but the ones who've had the virus but not been tested aren't counted obvs.
