I don't see a problem with that bit, not that they would actually put anybody inside for 10 years if they caught them anyway

Aye, can you really imagine the CPS allowing police to prosecute folk for going on holiday?

Its getting back that will be the issue.

Anyway, an interesting little aside: radio 4 put a question to a couple of expert types- what is the volume of covid 19 virus "particles" in the world currently?

One was a mathematician, the other had more in depth knowledge of things virus related. Remarkably similar answers though, and taking the virus mon's estimate as being the closest, the answer is:

160 ml.

About half a can of coke.

Incredible.

That is staggering.

Correct, as we still don't know if having the vaccine prevents you transmitting the virus.....I think. So I'd guess that you'll have to quarantine upon return, which could get costly. I'd not be surprised to see, in effect, holidays outside of this country being banned for the rest of this year, whilst the rest of the world catches up.

Maybe

But will they be properly open?

And it’s looking certain that vaccine passports will be the norm.

Chaos is my prediction.

Suits me.

Have the jab if you want a sunshine holiday.

Fellow libertarians are against a vaccine passport. I don’t get it; it will be the ultimate freedom pass and those who won’t have vaccine can’t go on holiday, can’t work, can’t attend sporting events etc.

So regular vaccinations and a passport to prove you've complied or you are a second class citizen.

Just like the tinfoilers predicted

You need a passport to prove who you are to travel and always have.

This is just an extra piece of paper. I don’t see the issue.

Went past the Pizza Corner in Fworth the other day, packed to the rafters. Zero fucks given.

The thought of not getting away is just depressing some clown on news thinks uk holidays could be off too

Isn’t that right, though?

They could put a special page in the new blue passports

Brexit loves a bit of paperwork. Perfect match.

Overly pessimist, surely?

And can’t make sense?

Bloke on the radio this morning was saying that his company has been asked by the govt to look into producing something along these lines but stopped short of calling it a vaccine passport

Essentially it would be something you get given when you have the vaccine, and has a QR code on that when scanned brings up a photo of you to confirm you’ve been vaccinated

Can’t contain any personal data or not easily forged but reckoned it’s do-able

I can't see why UK holidays would be off - you would think once we're all jabbed, they'd encourage UK holidays, to try and get some money flowing through the economy.

You’d think so

I haven’t followed much news recently think I’ll continue otherwise it’s just doom & gloom

Some bloke on the radio earlier reckons that over the lockdown period, there has been an extra £150B put into people's savings - which seems an incredible number. I know some are worse off, and some will be better off, but I wonder as an average if families will now have more or less in savings than they did pre-COVID

Cash savings?

I haven’t watched the news for weeks and choose what I read online by the headline. Made me feel loads better and has stopped me twatting mrs Esco so far so it’s working

Haven’t saved but spent on the house

frightening how much I spend on football tbh

Yes, cash savings - I thought it sounded a lot, but then I think they said it's probably only an average around 4000 per working person. I know that we've saved quite a bit between the 2 of us in the last 9 months than we ordinarily would, so it sounds plausible,

Just found this quote online, so maybe it is true

Bank of England data shows that total household deposits now stand at £1.6 trillion and grew by a staggering £124 billion between January and November 2020. In 2019, deposits increased by less than £50 billion over the same time period, marking a 148% increase in a single year

Thought so

averages are clearly misleading, there will be big winners and big losers
