Brilliant achievement. I'd love to know where that 30m actually goes.

It's how its absorbed into the actual NHS as well. I cant say I'm always fully switched on when Lady 505 talks about NHS politics but it's not just as straightforward as just saying "the NHS", does it go centrally or to Trusts or to funds for actual staff or for equipment etc? Its a big, slow, strangely run beast from the things I hear from her.

There was a piece on the news the other day, the NHS have a huge charity team that deals with donations. Basically it gets split across the whole NHS unless the donation is for a specific area.

It all gets spent right though.

Good that's more encouraging, if it goes towards a building or something like that hopefully it'll carry the Captain's (Colonel now?!) name.

Indeed, he's my second favourite Tom now.

Didn't realise he'd been in Burma, which is where my Grandpa was, and he was a POW there. They soldiers of the forgotten war got a really shit deal, it was only after years and years of campaigning the widows got anything near the compensation that soldiers who were on the Western Front got and so many came home with life-long illnesses either through their time in the POW camp or just fighting in the jungles.

My Nana got a tiny bit of money when my Grandpa died (well 4 years after he died at 72 - he had illness all his life from Malaria, excruciating tinnitus which came from the beatings by the guards and also a weakened immune system) which she got 4 months before she herself died of cancer.

Used to love going in the Vets Club in Farnworth with him when I was off school.

Never heard of her. Though I get the sense I'm more likely to have seen her.

Farnworth Vets Club

Did you go on any of the Children’s outings, might be insulting you here, in the ‘60’s

usually Southport in the summer and Bell Vue Circus In winter

Well done Col. Moore and happy birthday.

On the downside he has a lot to answer for. He is partially responsible for getting both YNWA and Michael Ball to the top of the charts.
