With the lockdown ending and most of the drinking establishments getting a lick of paint, i remember going in the Crown pub in Tyldesley, it was off the main drag and hardly used, a proper Walkers pub built near a mill. Place was falling apart, outside bogs with a stench what rats would even venture clear, and a clientele of us underage drinkers and old men with missing limbs.

That was the place we were in on one of the wways dos and a gypsy wedding reception came in, brides gown had green flashing fairy lights sewn into it.

Went in again before the cup game a few years ago and all the tables, chairs even toilets were all double bolted to the floor.

We decided to do the same one midweek instead of going to the game did York, Griffin, Balmoral and that Metro Taxis bar, what the hell was that place all about? 

A few places that I think might have closed now on COR used to be grim, the King's and Victory Reform, went in the Nelson once on the way into town as well it was heinous in there.

Pub on lark lane in liverpool used to be able to take a shopping list in and one of the regulars would get it all for you from the kwik save down the road, all trendy wine bars there now. The old dixie dean pub on london road in liverpool as well. My mate asked for a bag of crisps the landlord said "fuck off mate what do you think this is a restaurant."

 crown inn newton heath walked passed there once at 1030 in the morning, looked in fire escape, people absolutely twatted, karaoke on full blast with people giving it loads on the dance floor.

Been offered a fridge in a shit pub long gone at top of smithdown road in liverpool.. too many pubs on away days. That pub Doncaster away in the cup was for those couple of hours before the match one of the roughest pubs I've been in, was class.

Nelson 😁 frequented by the Indians now. Couple of my mates are Indian lads and I went in there a few years ago with them. They know all the faces in there and was a good laugh to be fair. The "elders" sat at the bar were giving the landlord dogs abuse cos one of um had caught him pouring supermarket spirits in the branded bottles the day before. 😂

Not far from me that place. Few of us went in once. Mrs of one of the lads ran the Church Inn nearby so we had a night in a few of the pubs round there. Fuck me they were horrible with the Crown the worst of the lot

we sampled a tasty ale in the Broadwater farm pub

It was mobbed with football fans but you could feel its potential

 

City Arms got a mention above

Think it might even been that place where we had a fantastic night after an away win at City

Proper Phoenix Nights stuff that 😀 I just remember dark wood panelling and people sat in corners that looked like they'd fossilised in there.

I'm sure there was an alcoholic's treatment centre right next door too.

Decor hadn't changed much when I was in then. 

And yes, I always think when I pass that it must be somewhat counter productive that the 2 places next door to the alci house is a pub and an offy.

There's hardly any pubs on oldham Rd until you get to Failsworth other than the couple mentioned already. There used to be one down the side of weir pumps between oldham Rd and briscoe Lane in Newton heath that changed to a man City themed place after they moved there.

Wasn't it under a different name when that happened mate ? Pretty sure it was Moss Side lads who went in with the gun and actually had them taken off them and at least one was shot dead outside on the grass.
