With the lockdown ending and most of the drinking establishments getting a lick of paint, i remember going in the Crown pub in Tyldesley, it was off the main drag and hardly used, a proper Walkers pub built near a mill. Place was falling apart, outside bogs with a stench what rats would even venture clear, and a clientele of us underage drinkers and old men with missing limbs.

Any Flat Roofed pub on sprawling overspill estates in the North West get in the " Good Pub Guide " ?

And they always had a pair of alsations on the roof

Before you ask, I had a mate just up the road where the newer, flashier houses were (just round the corner from Freddie Hills house). He used to like to pop in for a swifty to get a reality check before heading off to the White Horse to sup with snobs.

Aye, Rocket got knocked down and a Spar built there. I went in the spar a while back when passing, it would appear the locals are still the same, there was a big list of mugshots behind the till of people who are barred 😁

A few years back the lad had a football match on the fields at the back of New Lane, remember passing The Rocket thinking, ah that's where the infamous pub is. The state of some of the gardens backing on to the fields, I have seen tidier fucking scrap yards.

Played against them for The Bug in the Bolton Sunday league around 1984, got changed in the Rocket then all traipsed through someone's garden to get on the pitch, even offered a pint at 10.00am Sunday morning

No that was called the woolpack I think right next to Eddie Coleman Court. Me and a few mates judged the talent show in there once never seen owt like it...Flemish was other end of flats almost opposite where McDonald's is.
