DX 

If there is a more incompetent courier company in this country I would like to meet them. 
They have been notoriously shite lately but my word this week takes the gravy.

Ordered some cables for some equipment at work, this was Sunday night, should have been here guaranteed Monday. 
Nothing, no big problem. Tracked it, at the depot. Rang them, it was on the truck be here latest Wednesday. Still nothing

so I rang them, seems to be lost in transit. Ordered some more, to be here Friday guaranteed. Nothing

Called them. Apologised. They will track it. Called me and said it’s on its way to the depot will call me when it’s physically in his hands. Brilliant.
 

Calls me, he has it in front of him. I said right keep it there I’ll come and pick it up, said they’re shutting but tomorrow (Saturday) I can pick it up from the depot. 8am they open. So I turn up anddddddddd

Depot shut today.

Wankers. Fuckin wankers.

My mate had a new oven delivered by them 2 years ago. She had to work so I sat in waiting for it for her. Nothing. She rang up at 4pm. Failed delivery nobody in. Bollocks. Same happened two following days. This was 10 days before Xmas it started. Finally got delivered 4th January. They are a complete shambles

Just been having a read of their reviews. How they are still operating I have no idea 

Comes down to price I assume. And the retailer not being arsed if you get the goods or not on time 

Our place use yodel when they started I warned them on past experiences and what I’ve heard, the amount of returns that come back is phenomenal

Get what you pay for with couriers, same as most things in life.

Mrs Manc used to work for DX and yeah they are a bit shit. They were founded delivering legal papers between solicitors, etc (Document eXchange). They then got the contract to deliver passports. So basically they were small time but secure. Saw the chance to break into the home delivery sector and went for it. Not fit for purpose though. DPD and Hermes are streets ahead.

Somebody said it above. You get what you pay for and the better logistics firms charge more because they tend not to lose your stuff and have far superior customer service

I am friends with a woman who was fairly high in the management at White Arrow. Or is it FedEx? Or Yodel?

 

She stays with each company for about 18 months builds up a sales team then fucks off to a competitor, taking her sales team with her.

They’ll start off each new employment by offering attractive rates and then raise them slowly over the term of their contract. This attracts a massive bonus by trawling through previous sales from the last employer and then 18 months later they go to another company again undercutting their previous employer and then raising the cost over the term.

She’s making a fortune at it.

All of the above was explained to me by her.

Our local Parcel Force is brilliant. I have Wayne's (the local driver) number and if I'm going to be out we sort it between us. I know Royal Mail is old fashioned but I find them really good, I often used to go out Tuesday nights with my postie until he retired to watch non league, he would always find a good game somewhere.

She’s not that high up but Micky’s description is pretty much bob on. She’s working at Hermes with a lot of the same people who she’s worked with at CityLink, DX, UK Mail, DHL and a smaller company who’s name escapes me who have a base behind Carrs on Manny Road

Tbh they all have problems. It tends to be the depots where the issues lie. Hermes had a massive issue with the Bradford depot earlier this year.

Our local Hermes (and others) courier is spot on and knows who on our close will take in parcels (usually me) we have a chat about the footy (he's a city fan of the ilk that is still expecting it to all go tits up in a truly citeh fashion)

My mum and dad are on a different route even though she only the other side of the main road and her courier is shit. Stuff is always broken or damaged.

I was expecting a very rare record - worth about £200, didn't turn up, got in touch with the seller and he was adamant it had been dispatched - with fucking Yodel, nuff said.

I was drunk one Saturday evening and busting and toilet was engaged so went out back for a piss - there in the foliage near the wall was the parcel.

It'd probably been there a week, a week it had almost constantly pissed it down. Thankfully the seller had cling wrapped the parcel to fuck so by luck the vinyl/sleeve was unscathed.

Why hadn't the useless cunt put a card through, how else was I supposed to know he'd hoyed it over the wall, E.S.P.?

Royal Mail were excellent until that cunt Gideon undersold it to his mates - what took overnight by standard you have to pay an extra fiver for,  otherwise allow at least three days for a delivery. Lost count of parcels that have arrived with peepholes poked in - they've remained un-nicked as the clueless theiving wankers have clocked them as 'worthless' records, if it'd been an i-Pad or a few Lacoste polos or sommat they'd have disappeared into the ether.

Deutsche Post work with German efficiency until the parcel is picked up by their UK subby, then it goes tits up - bullshit 'no-one home' excuses, they either knock on the door with a feather duster or a cynic might surmise they didn't even attempt delivery.

I've had parcels make more trips there and back than a Lancaster Bomber crew.

One parcel was floating about three months before it landed...
I could've rehearsed, recorded and had my own copy pressed up in that time.

DPD are the best in my experience. No issues.

If retailers told us which delivery company they use would it make a difference to whether or not you bought from them?

Our local DPD driver is great. If we aren't in he knows where to leave stuff and puts a card through. The same with our postie who gets a few quid at Christmas along with the Binnies and the Milk Man.

I know one of the DX drivers, there's a couple in the BL6 area. I call this one Hagrid, not to his face obviously, because he looks like him.

 

Anyway, couriers. I work for one of the big players. I drive a 7.5T and the vast majority of my customers are business customers. I deliver Pallets of goods and bulk deliveries to all major outlets on Middlebrook. But since C19 kicked in I'm doing more privates. Crappy little jobs them.

 

I can't say I've had proper grief from customers but I have had story's of delays with delivery from them. We get it because we are at the end of the supply chain. OK, with the amount of stuff being shifted from one place to another there will be issues with the courier. Not fun if you are the customer. But I can tell you a large amount of problems are caused by the sender. Address issues. Packing problems. Consignment not being ready for collection, but they told cust it will be dispatched THAT day etc...

 

In a small amount of cases the tracking of conns can be a mystery. I've been to customers and they say the tracking thing told them this item is still in the depot, in Birmingham 🤔.

 

I'm my opinion you are more likely to have issues with the lads & lassies rushing around with cars, or tranny vans packed full of Amazon stuff. This time of year is absolutely mental for everyone. Casualties will happen. More so with them guys.

 

Just a brief insight in to my world. But if you live in the BL6 area, and you have a del from TNT/FedEx (they are one of the same now), then be safe in the knowledge that the top man is at the wheel and everything I have (unless the customer is out) gets to its destination.

 

Btw, pull your wing mirrors in if you live on a terrace street.

Haha Cheers Undies, my problem was with the actual customer service I got.

The Amazon lass today who was delivering(gorgeous by the way) was in a 1 series BMW and every window was obstructed with Amazon parcels. If you were in the drivers seat she couldn’t see through the passengers window, or the rear views. 
Bloody dangerous.

Our local Parcelforce & Hermes guys are spot on, they message us if they have something for us. If we're not in, the Parcelforce guy comes back the day after or leaves it at the Post Office forum, whilst the Hermes guy takes it home (he lives about 100yds away) and brings it back round later.

DHL delivered a box full of beer to me from Germany last week and "left it on the bench at the back of my house", because I wasn't in.
Only problem being that the photograph of the bench with the parcel sat on it that he uploaded to the website for proof wasn't actually my garden. He'd have had to get over a 6 foot fence to get in mine.
