January 30, 20215 yr Another fellow Wanderer has sadly passed away. I used to work with Paul many years ago and many of you may have seen him or met him at home or aways over the years. He used to be good mates with Dave Jackson who we know has also sadly passed in recent years. There is a short obituary done by West Didsbury & Chorlton FC with a picture link below:- https://wdcfc.co.uk/2021/01/tributes-paid-to-wests-paul-settle/
January 30, 20215 yr Knew him as a mate of dave Used to be 3 of them but at least one fell out with dave for years I doubt he was the only one tbf
January 30, 20215 yr Such a shame. I’ve known Paul for probably 15+ years since his son Ste started playing at Leigh RMI. He never missed a game and there were times when the two of us would be a third of our away support. In later years I always looked forward to seeing him at Colls games and putting the BWFC world to rights. He’ll be sadly missed. RIP Paul

January 30, 20215 yr One of them faces you saw everywhere, through good times and bad. Never really spoke to him other than the odd passing the time of day chat at the bar. A sign of getting older I suppose when you see the old guard you've seen for donkeys years slipping off the dish. RIP

RIP 100% spot on that Dave. Defo a face from “when we were shit” that I remember as a kid
January 30, 20215 yr remember him over the years, he used to go and watch mossley when his son played for them , his daughter used to sit next to us until 2008. she used to work at the vulcan, might still do if pubs ever reopen.

He lived round the corner from the Vulcan so might well have drunk there tbh
January 30, 20215 yr Didn't know him but saw him all over & he seemed a good bloke. RIP Of the others, John A now goes everywhere on K&F, but Trevor packed it in when DJ died. T is sound as a pound but i think it's fair to say he enjoyed the 'social side ' of it more than the football !!
January 30, 20215 yr So sad to hear the passing of Paul, known him many years and always enjoyed a drink with him whenever our paths crossed. R.I.P.

January 31, 20215 yr One of those that you knew their face, a nod & a hello at away games without knowing their name. RIP Paul. Enjoy watching us from the terraces above. Thoughts are with his family & friends. Edited January 31, 20215 yr by BOWTUN BAKED
January 31, 20215 yr I think more people would have known him better had they not been giving DJ a swerve... He was a cantankerous cnut!

Hit the nail on the head with that comment, I must have seen that group of lads on trains and in pubs on countless occasions, DJ, Paul, John, Trevor and Dave from E Lancs. He would upset anyone DJ if he wasn't getting his way. Me and Col would wind him up to fuck.😄
