Then in 1972/73 my brother took me to my first game at Burnden, sat on the huge steps on the embankment v York City. We lost 0-1 but I was hooked and never returned to the dark side.

Unless we played them twice that year, it wasn't against York City

Only know cos it was my first or second game

Right at the end of the season and we won

You’re right, it was the previous season:

18/09/1971 D3 Bolton Wanderers 0-1 York City

so I’ve been a fully fledged trotter longer than I thought..👍😁

So who were your first team who lost your support because of your lack of scruples?

The second quote of mine that you quoted is something totally different from the first. I have never had two teams on the go at the same time.

My first choice, if you want to call it that, only went as far as having a mock shirt made up by my mum because I liked one player.

I went to that cup tie when Tomo, Brownie and Coyle scored, wierd tea time KO for Sky, but that was a couple of years before my brother moved there.

Maybe unlikely you'd know him, moves in different circles to me, unless you've been to Lincoln Theatre Royal.  He is musical director of shows there (or was) and teaches music.  He's nothing like me, to say the least, but like you I really like Lincoln, great place with great pubs, feels chilled.  (His mate owns Imperial Teas on Steep Hill when he's not playing Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar!).

I might know him to say hello to as I sometimes do part time teaching at Lincoln College Building Dept. There were a couple from the Theatre Royal in the night class when I did my City Guild in FE Teaching. My sister in law, also living in Lincoln, is an actor and sings in bands so she will definitely know him, I'll ask her if she knows any other BWFC in her circles.

I'll drag him down to Sincil Bank one day when I need live football and can't travel, I'd never travel away with the Imps but I've had some good laughs at home with my daft building site mates who support Lincoln.

That night was a good 'un. I remember Browny standing out, might have got Man of the Match? Sky filmed BWFC arriving and they couldn't find their way into the ground, there were building works going on.

Can't place Imperial Teas, no doubt I have walked past it loads of times, a friend used to have the Modern Cafe at the bottom of the hill, he is a Paul Weller look a like and used to get all the mods, shame he ran out of money.

See you in The Strugglers sometime

Hang on, two at the same time never entered the conversation. Your title speaks of SWITCHING support.

Bloody kids supporting the Rags...

I went on the lash in Bolton with an old school mate, he arranged for his lad to sleep over with his pals so I can have his room. Stumbled to bed in the dark in the early hours, when dawn came I was under an MUFC quilt with an MUFC pillow and surrounded by MUFC wallpaper and had Ryan Giggs grinning at me from the opposite wall.

I was certain I'd died of alcohol poisoning and this was Hell

There's plenty on here with second teams, be it political or other. But for the life of me I can not get my head around this second team thing.

Indeed. The thread was about folk, a grown man, switching teams. But the thread has, as is the norm, slighty deviated from the the main subject.

What was the reason for quoting me on the second team thing then? I only replied to the point you seemed to be highlighting. Never have I had two teams on the go. Plenty on here do. I hope that clears it up.

I've popped to see Bromley Town a couple of times but that was mainly out of wanting to do something different at the weekend. They've got a decent set up and lovely kit though.

I think living elsewhere usually makes you a bit more likely to stick to your home town club, especially when you've also got a thick northern accent as well.

Seems like there is an awful lot of spurs fans round here, which is odd considering the amount of local clubs doing well. The Crystal Palace shop that opened in the shopping centre is always empty.
