I’ve found Americans in general, regardless of where they’re from or which political party they follow are complete fuck tards.

Washington and Seattle the only 2 places I’ve spent time in America, wasn’t keen on either to be honest…. Even the Washington state wine was average although the vineyards I visited were lovely. (Sadly wine wasn’t)

Poor fella... he obviously has pressing health issues, best he stepped down.

He can't stand next time round surely?

Nowt to do with politics, he clearly struggles at times, and not on the odd occasion. With Trump likely as the alternative, just get a decent, well mannered person in with full faculties.

Imagine losing an election to him.

I'll be surprised if he does, but it is the United States of America, so absolutely anything is possible.

On a policy basis he's done an exceptional job.

Irrespective of politics- some over there will agree with you, other won't- he's not safe and has made repeated gaffes that might cause a bigger issue at some point in time.

It's just been announced that Republicans have claimed to have new evidence of wrong doing and are seeking to impeach him.

Whether it's a load of bollocks or not, is he capable of handling such proceedings if they came into being?

His approval rating is now 38%, supposedly very low at this stage (latest report) so all in all, they'd be better with a newer candidate. After all, it wouldn't be difficult to beat Trump with someone half decent.

I'm just saying, regardless, he has done an decent job by not being too partisan and managing both sides of the house very well and having such a narrow majority and away from headline iniativies has had bi-partisan support for a host of measures.

Wheather he gets back in or not, he's had a very good term in office.

You can see my post on British politics for the thoughts on why the US system is skewed to older leaders generally across the board, and I don't disagree that he is probably too old, as is Trump I'd say only being 3 years between them and indeed as was Reagan when he left office touching 78 ; but that still doesn't take away from the successes that Biden has had during his tenure.

Kim jong bummer in Russia today. Just saying

Problem is the Dems don't want to oust an incumbent president as it's bad form, and the Republicans are tied to the Trump bandwagon.

So the whole country is left with whoever they view as the least worst option.

I'm sure the Democrats can have a quiet word.

They may have no option if he's deemed not well enough.

I saw a piece a while back, with someone saying the floating voters are desperate for a decent candidate. Even some republicans saying they won't vote for Trump because of his behaviour.

Can see the republican nomination coming down to Trump and a 'sensible' republican hopefully the sensible one wins and the world can start moving away from the ridiculous Trump era.

The hold religious fundamentalists have on the republican party means they'll never truly be sensible options.

It’s time for Biden to shuffle off the stage

Halfway through a ceremony at the White House last week, says Andrew Sullivan on Substack, Joe Biden suddenly wandered off stage, without saying anything, “to somewhat stunned silence”. The 80-year-old did the same at the end of a recent MSNBC interview (above), standing up stiffly and shuffling away. Every time you see the president now, he looks, well, like a man in his eighties. “He’s slow, careful, stilted.” His speech is a little off; his eyes “barely visible in the ancient, botoxed, fillered face”. This isn’t Republican point-scoring: in the latest “brutal” polling, 49% of Democrats say Biden is too old for re-election, and two-thirds want someone else as the party’s nominee next year. It’s true that Donald Trump isn’t young himself, at 77. But he is still full of stamina and zeal. Compared to Biden, “he seems like raw energy”.

Imagine how much better the Democrats would do if Biden pulled out of the race. It would “shift the dynamic” in an instant: the Democratic candidate would represent the future, Trump “the polarised past”. The election would become all about Democratic campaigns and debates, not “the defensive torpor of a frail octogenarian”. Sure, there are no obvious candidates to replace Biden – “but that’s what primaries are for”. The appetite is there: Robert Kennedy Jr is polling around 10%, “despite being completely bonkers”. If the president does stand down, he could say: “I did my part. I saved us from Trump.” If he stays on and loses, his only legacy will be handing the country back to the “monster” he once defeated.

Four more years

He seems to be getting under the skin of all the right people.

Thats what really counts

He's losing support. That's not getting under the skin of the right people, it's potentially losing the Democrat's presidency.

And giving it back to Trump.

Can Kamala Harris not run instead? - I honestly have no idea, but as VP, should/would she not be next in line?

Suppose so, but would she want it, and would she get the nomination?

Especially if Biden wants to stay as the candidate?

You'd think the best thing would be for him to step aside.

She's about as popular as a fart in a lift.
