St Georges Day

24th March today.

The day the media are frightened of celebrating.

It is our proud to be English day.

If my new flag had been delivered on time it would have been fluttering proudly above the new shed. A few years ago

Saxon released a live album recorded at The Ritz on this day.

Witnessed by my self and Ashburner St Market and Sputnik Stan.

We spent the afternoon in the Old Monkey and The Circus.  Surrounded by guys who had been to the St Georges day lunch at the Midland Hotel.

I for one will be raising a glass of traditional English stout Ale this evening.

Funnily enough there was a weed farm next door - the old bill wanted to check they hadn't drilled through to nick my electricity.

That's the usual downfall... I know a mob who had a visit after a (still unsolved) murder and the Bill lifted floorboards looking for weapons/evidence and found a cable which they followed....

My Dad spent his years between school and and his 21st birthday in the Navy, dodging first German U Boats and then Kamakazi maniacs.

No chance of either a formal education or a trade. He did his bit though. He and his wonderful wife brought us up in a 2 up 2 down terraced house with an outside loo. 5 of us.
What I have today has nothing to do with anyone other than myself and my wonderful parents who had nowt, nothing, zilch.
It certainly has absolutely nothing to do with any of governments Ive lived under since 1954.
Not sure what this has to do with this thread, maybe it should be in the politics thread, having said that, every thread is a politics thread. Isn’t it?

It doesn't.

But in many ways its brilliant.

St George's Day, St Patricks Day, doesn't really matter. Folk can celebrate them all they want. It makes no difference to anything.

Those who take a day off work, or even worse travel to Spain to "celebrate" St George's day, really do need to have a word with themselves

Gibraltar is not Spain as well you know and most likely will remain so for a long time yet. Anyway, fuck off with the distractions - I'm currently sourcing truckloads of trifle ingredients to feed the loyal masses in the future Dominion of Britain currently known as Western Australia.

The secessionist movement remains strong.

I don’t see it any different to celebrating Xmas. Both an excuse for a piss up both made up on a pack of lies.

Might as well start at the very beginning with the immaculate conception

Mary shagged around and started the biggest web of lies ever known to man

Joseph was merely the first to fall for it

There was no such people - there was no census, a donkey can only do about twenty miles before it's knackered. The Romans published every crucifixion in their 'Before the Courts' in the weekly papyrus - there was no mention of Jesus.

They nailed a Jew to a piece of wood three days later he was back in the local Donkey and Partridge

George went to Turkey and  bummed a dragon

Probably all bollocks but we get a few days off and cheap bombadier.

Win win

Th'Ethopians reckon they got his cock pickled or his bones or that sack and hat he wore over his deformed bonce. But nobodies allowed to see them.

The day Stevieb was born.

Now that its got two dates... 23rd April and 24th March do I get to celebrate twice like the Queen?

I was talking about the significance of it, not the fact that's its made up.

It’s actually a good time to visit Spain.

My brother is the same. It’s a fair question but the media don’t like to talk about it.

We will celebrate this day as we do every year.

Beach towels, pease pudding, meat pies (from Australia) with ketchup, Merlot and trifle...

Wearing plastic chainmail and brandishing a toy sword?

Me?

No, you spend the day fasting and meditating cross-legged before a framed photo of Nigel Farage.

Not a fan, never warmed to him.

This year we will be in Paris, so might find an Irish bar.
