As I get older, I am drawn more towards faith, and not just in oh its really interesting sort of way - was going to do RS at Sixth Form but choose History instead - my eldest does it for her A-Levels. But after being really dismissive of people with faith myself for years I think there is something in it - not in a bloke with a white beard sort of way or I'll see dead relatives sitting on a cloud when I die, but in more of a spiritual/nature way that can allow a person to experience life in a richer, deeper way possibly. I might be talking utter bollocks as per, but personally I do find something moving about being in  church and if individuals find strength in it in the utter desolateness of being a self-aware tiny insignificant speck. Then fair enough for me.

I liked your earlier post and this one made me think we're on the same page. Shock horror.

I also found Gervais in Armageddon hilarious when I saw it live at Manc Apollo earlier this year.

Religion is a load of shite for me but who am I to belittle an old dear for attending church every Sunday morning or a family christening their child?

The missus' family are all fairly religious but my side is not at all but we had our kids christened, I just went along with it and got pissed at the do afterwards.

Think as humans we generally crave togetherness and being part of a common cause.

Hence we all love limbs at footy and bouncing about at gigs or raves together.

My issue with reglion is that its not moved on in thousands of years but science has.

We should all know better by now.

But what is truth? Scientific, yes; but human beings need more than that - we need beauty, music and most importantly stories - stories are what bind us as communities.

We should never, and will never, know better. That is why its a singular joy to be alive and that's more than science and simple facts, just as we are more than bones, blood and molecules.

Save me from that world, thankfully because we are self aware we will always be more than that.

I'd probably say I'm agnostic now, the point is I'm not comfortable with the arrogance that comes with a certain strain of Atheism.

I'm more in line with Humainism, which doesn't set its line by shutting faiths down.

It's also why I can switch off with that. If Bolton win of course I'm happy, but their success as a team has nothing to do with me, which is why at times it feels empty - it's more about me supporting a team because it does represent who I am and where I come from. 

I don't have faith in Bolton, they are an actual thing, and my support is real.

As is documented on here, I'm still not a huge Evett fan but if he proves me wrong I'll gladly swallow my words.

There's loads in the chat - it's very easy - basically we have moved on in humanity and if you have any sort of faith then it's either stupidity or your belief is the cause of ever war.

It's all there - just look back. I'd call that arrogance, and also a terrible understanding of history.
